The Wooden Spoon Competition saw the four 5th placed teams come head-to-head in, what is also sometimes dubbed as, the battle for 17th. Before the Semi-Finals kicked off we knew we would have an Ireland versus England final as the draw had thrown up an all-Ireland Semi and an all-England Semi.

Let us begin with the all-Ireland encounter between Celtic Craic and Dot Cotton's Flaps. We had Dot Cotton's Flaps down as favourites on the strength of the Group performance as they had picked up 3 more points and a goal difference 19 goals healthier. Celtic Craic defied these odds in the first half with an admirable performance that saw the two teams go into half-time level at 2-2. Mick Dillon and David Gorey both finding the net for Celtic Craic to cancel out Shane Murphy and Fiachra Hartnett's goals for Dot Cotton's Flaps. In the second half it was to be the favourites who just had the edge as Ross Nicholson bagged a brace to put his team into the Wooden Spoon Final. The final score, 4-2.

Who would meet Dot Cotton's Flaps in the final? The two teams in contention were Meal Machine and The New Camps. Both teams would go into the final on a high following Meal Machine's victory over one of the pre-tournament favourites (Olympic Phil Babb) and The New Camps last minute equaliser against DHL Prague Red. The adrenalin of this euphoria failed to produce goals in the first half of the semi-final as the teams turned around at 0-0. In the second half we witnessed the vital breakthrough as Neil Lidstone put the New Camps 1-0 up. In these knock-out games the first goal so often decides the team that goes through and that was certainly the case in this game. As the team that falls behind chases the game there are inevitably opportunities on the break for the leading team. This can so often lead to teams falling further behind as Craig Bryant and James Morris capitalized on the situation to send The New Camps through to the final, 3-0. It was the end of the road for Meal Machine but they have the consolation of victory over Olympic Phil Babb to take home with them.
