* The Bernabeu Butchers (Eng) won on Golden Goal

The Bernabeu Butchers and JNJ Global Services had both come through extremely close Quarter-Finals and may have been a little leg-weary after a bout of extra time on top of the 5 games they had played thus far. It was perhaps no surprise that we had another close game in store for us and one where goals were at a premium. Simon Pike, with the help of his defence, managed to keep his second clean of the knock-out phase for the Bernabeu Butchers. His forwards were finding the opposing keeper, Gordon MacIntosh, in equally fine form. In the previous game he saved a penalty in the shoot-out and was proving just as tough to beat in this encounter. He preserved his clean sheet too and we were into extra time once again. In déjà vu of the Bernabeu Butchers previous game we saw another Golden Goal and that Golden Goal was scored for the second match running by James Halliday. This was cruel luck on JNJ Global Services who had now lost out in the Plate Semi-Finals on three occasions in four tournaments. We are sure a Final is just around the corner for them but it would be the Bernabeu Butchers who would reach that stage today.

Masters of the Pooniverse were the biggest winners in the Quarter-Finals when they knocked out the CSF and they were making their 2nd Plate Semi-Final appearance. Their opponents were DHL Prague Red looking for that 4th Plate Final. Masters of the Pooniverse went out at this stage in Amsterdam last year on penalties having drawn 0-0 in normal time. There would be no repeat result this time as they conceded early on to Tosin Adeogun's second goal in this knock-out phase. It was a goal that was to be the match winner as there was no further addition to the score. Masters of the Pooniverse had performed admirably to reach this stage with a bare bones squad of just 5 players. For DHL Prague Red though they would have one more game to play in their bed for a second Plate victory.
