The Cup Quarter-Finals saw the elite 8 teams of the 20 team draw come head to head to see which team would emerge as 2010 Prague Masters champions. We had 3 nations still with a chance of grabbing glory so would it be Bulgaria , the Czech Republic or England celebrating at 5pm this evening? The Czechs had five teams reach the Quarter-Finals and their challenge was strong.

The first Quarter-Final was Cheesecake FC against Mollys FC which promised to be an intriguing contest. Cheesecake FC had finished the Group stage with the best record of all teams whereas Mollys FC were one of the strongest runners-up earning a draw against 4-times eurofootballfives.com finalists Lozenetz City along the way. We were expecting a close match but we were wide of the mark. From the moment Waseem Khalique put Cheesecake FC ahead there was no looking book. Mark Hignett added a second goal for a 2-0 half-time lead. Chris Mort got the ball rolling again in the second half to make it 3-0 before Waseem Khalique and Justin Rees made it 5-0. There was still time for Khalique to complete his hat-trick.

The 6-0 final score must have sent shockwaves out to the other 3 semi-finalists and Cheesecake FC were emerging as the team to beat.

Cup Quarter-Final 2 saw two previous winners come head-to-head as Olympic Phil Babb (2008 Amsterdam Fives & 2009 Algarve Open champions) took on Kehar Club (2007 Prague Masters champions). Kehar Club had made three Prague finals but number four was looking increasingly difficult as Olympic Phil Babb forged a 2-0 lead by half-time as 2009 Algarve Open top goalscorer Alex Woolston scored both goals.

The second half was more even but the damage was done in the first-half and although the teams shared four goals in the second half the final score was 4-2 and Olympic Phil Babb would play Cheesecake FC in the Semi-Finals. Alex Woolston completed his hat-trick with James Cooper adding his fifth for the tournament. Kehar Club's Martin Sekerka and Lukas Ruzicka also found the net in a losing cause.

On Pitch C we had the mouthwatering Quarter-Final of Lozenetz City and SK Zelenec to look forward to. The match was a repeat of the 2009 Prague Masters Cup Semi-Final which the Bulgarian team won via Golden Goal. With both teams playing well so far today we expected another close contest and that's exactly what we witnessed.

The teams were level 1-1 at half-time (Atanas Minev for Lozenetz, Filip Esner for SK Zelenec). At full-time we were level at 2-2 with Bojidar Gorchev and Radek Sulta scoring for their respective teams. The result was exactly the same as 12 months ago and this game was worthy of being a final. SK Zelenec would be hoping it would not be an exact repeat going out on Golden Goal again.

Lozenetz City were no strangers to extra time with both their 2010 Manchester Fives and Amsterdam Fives Finals going the distance. In Manchester , they won the tournament via Golden Goal as they had done so against Zelenec 12 months ago. They say things come in threes and fortunately for Lozenetz and unfortunately for Zelenec it was the third Golden Goal victory for the Bulgarians as captain Alexander Kyulev scored the all important goal that sent them into the semi-finals.

Who would meet Lozenetz City in the second Semi-Final? Deportivo and FC Xaverov would come together in this all Czech contest to decide who would have that honour. So far in the Cup Quarter-Finals the group winners had all defeated the runners-up. If this was to be the case again it would be Deportivo who would make the final four.

Deportivo continued their form from the group phase and kept the Quarter-Finals pattern going when Andres Caballero and Leo Echeverria put their team 2-0 up. It was goal number 7 for Echeverria who was making a personal case for his right to be the tournament top goalscorer. There was no coming back for FC Xaverov and in fact it got worse for them when Javier Acosta made it 3-0 for Deportivo. FC Xaverov were now out but Deportivo were two games away from the ultimate prize.
