When
the game started, Plate win number two looked
less likely as James Halliday put the Bernebeu
Butchers one goal up in the opening half. The
good thing for DHL Prague Red was that they still
had time to recover. By half-time they were unable
to do this as The Bernabeu Butchers had preserved
their 1-0 advantage.
The
Bernabeu Butchers goalkeeper Simon Pike was yet
to concede in the knock-out phase in five halves
of football so DHL Prague Red's task to get back
into this final was going to be a really tough
one. That task got even harder when James Halliday
scored his second of the game to put Bernabeu
Butchers 2-0 up. Halliday was really coming into
his own in this knock-out phase with his fourth
goal in three games and his sixth of the tournament.
That's how it finished, 2-0.
You
had to feel sorry for DHL Prague Red who had put
a great deal of effort into their challenge all
day and come so close to success. Unfortunately
it was to no avail and they collected their hat-trick
of runners-up medals to cushion the blow a little.
It was the gold winners medals they wanted though
and Plate victory number two is surely not too
far away.
This
year though, the glory, the trophy and the winners
medals go to Bernabeu Butchers. Well done lads.
