Lozenetz City (Bul)

Before the tournament we were asked who our favourites were and we mentioned Olympic Phil Babb and Lozenetz City . The challengers were stronger than we could have imagined and these two teams were made to work hard to reach the 2010 Prague Masters Final. They both needed penalties to get this far and the make up of this Final could well have looked different. They did reach the Final though and that is testimony to their quality and fighting spirit.

As well as the glory of being the 2010 Prague Masters champions there was more at stake than just this final. Whoever won this final would become the first team to win 3 eurofootballfives.com titles. Olympic Phil Babb already had the 2008 Amsterdam Fives and 2009 Algarve Open titles under their belts. Lozenetz City could claim the 2009 Prague Masters and 2010 Manchester Fives titles. Lozenetz City could also become the first team to retain a tournament in eurofootballfives.com history.

When the game got underway it was Olympic Phil Babb who flew out the traps and raced into a 3-0 lead by half-time. We could not quite believe what we were seeing as we all expected this to be a tight contest. Two more goals from Alex Woolston taking him up to 9 goals in the tournament and James Cooper's 6th of the day put Olympic Phil Babb in firm control of this final.

It was difficult to see any team coming back from this but if anyone could you may put your money on Lozenetz City . Captain Alexander Kyulev scored his fourth of the day to make it 3-1 and they had a toe in the door. When Kyulev scored again they were in striking distance at 3-2 knowing that just one more goal would take this game into extra time. No sooner had they pulled it back to 3-2 then Olympic Phil Babb went straight up the other end to make it 4-2 through Alex Woolston again. The goal was a hammer blow to Lozenetz City 's hopes and proved to be the final nail in the coffin.

It was a fantastic result for Olympic Phil Babb who had won their third title in three tournaments. They became the first team to win 3 eurofootballfives.com tournaments and we salute this fantastic accomplishment.

Alex Woolston's hat-trick would take the headlines and it was only the second hat-trick scored in a final in eurofootballfives.com history (following Daniel House for Dogshead FC in the 2009 Prague Trophy). It also meant he had scored an amazing 6 goals in 3 eurofootballfives.com finals.

It would take a great achievement to beat Alex Woolston to the 2010 Prague Masters Top Goalscorer Award. That achievement was secured by Cheesecake FC's Mark Hignett with a grand total of 11 goals. A big hats off to him.

Our commiserations go to Lozenetz City on coming so close again. They have had a superb July in eurofootballfives.com competition reaching 3 finals and picking up the 2010 Manchester Fives title. We look forward to seeing them again in competition next year.

We send our congratulations to all the teams who participated in what was a great day's competition. The tournament had everything and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
