Group B kicked off with one of the pre- tournament favourites Lozenetz City entertaining new comers Dot Cotton's Flaps. The team from Bulgaria entered the tournament in fine form with the 2010 Manchetser Fives title and runners up spot in the 2010 Amsterdam Fives already secured. They were bidding to become the first team to successfully defend a title having been victorious here in Prague twelve months ago. Dot Cotton's Flaps had quite a task on their hands but one they took to admirably. They held Lozenetz City to 1-1 for long periods of the game as strikes from Alexander Kyulev and Tim Hegarty cancelled each other out. A late breakaway goal from Kyulev again ensured they would start their title defence with a win. It was tough luck for Dot Cotton's Flaps who pushed the Bulgarians all the way.

Masters of the Pooniverse entered the 2010 Prague Masters with the nucleus of the Amsterdamage squad that participated in the 2009 Amsterdam Fives and went out in the Plate Semi-Finals on penalties. They were up against Molly's FC who were making their debut, although featured former DHL Prague player Gareth Evers in their line up. When the final whistle blew it was a goal in each half that handed Masters of the Pooniverse a 2-0 opening win. Captain Peter Lovell scored the opening goal with Joey Romeu sealing the victory with goal number two.

The Bernabeu Butchers were making their third appearance in Prague (formerly under the name of Red Star Rickerby) where they lost in the Cup Quarter-Finals on both occasions. Their opening game was a tough one against Lozenetz City who had already warmed up with a win. Lozenetz City carried on their opening game form to go 1-0 up through Tsoni Petrov. In the second half a Vencislav Georgiev's double increased that lead to 3-0 and the points were safe. Lozenetz City had 6 points on the board already. Bernabeu Butchers had 3 group games to go to stake their claim in Group B.

Dot Cotton's Flaps would have been encouraged by their first game performance despite defeat. Their second hurdle would be first game victors, Masters of the Pooniverse. This was to prove another close contest and at the break the English team held a narrow advantage thanks to James Whitehead who scored both his sides goals. Cormac Breen's goals for the Irish kept them in it. Once the second half was over it was another narrow one goal defeat for the team from the Emerald Isle with Joey Romeu's second goal in as many games proving to be the match winner for the Masters of the Pooniverse.

The game that would take us to the half way stage of Group B was Molly's FC versus the Bernabeu Butchers. Both teams were looking for a vital victory to kickstart their campaign. At half time there was nothing to split the two teams at 0-0. With Lozenetz City and Masters of the Pooniverse both on 6 points a draw would not be enough if these teams harboured hopes of Cup glory. Could either team build on this solid start to grab victory? The answer was yes and it was Molly's FC with gals from Martin Beman and Dave Twort who kept their Cup hopes alive. It was not impossible for Bernabeu Butchers to make the Cup but the chances were now slim. The Plate, at this stage, was looking to be a more realistic target.
