It
would be a brave man to choose the winner of this
tie as there did not seem to be much between the
squads. On the pitch it was Dot Cotton's Flaps
who took the early initiative when Fiachra Hartnett
bagged his fourth of the tournament to put the
Irish team in the lead. The New Camps had shown
in their final group game that they had what it
takes to come from a goal down to claim a draw
but by half-time Dot Cotton's Flaps still had
their 1-0 lead.
The
New Camps left it late when they equalized against
DHL Prague Red but they would need to find two
late goals in this tie after Shane Murphy's 3rd
of the tournament increased Dot Cotton's Flaps
lead to 2-0. In the end, The New Camps were unable
to find the back of the net and 2-0 was to be
the final score.
Our
congratulations to Dot Cotton's Flaps who played
the tournament in a fantastic spirit all day and
we look forward to seeing them again next year.
Commiserations to The New Camps who could not
quite make it a Plate/Wooden Spoon double with
their sister squad, The Bernabeu Butchers.
