As we entered the final Round of games there was much to decide in Group D. We kicked off with We've Got Wood versus Old Sedcopians Legends.

The teams sat in 4th and 5th position so the most obvious battle was the battle to see who would qualify for the Plate and who would qualify for the Trophy. Old Sedcopians Legends had to win the game by 3 goals or more to leapfrog We've Got Wood. Anything less and We've Got Wood would secure 4th place as a bare minimum. They could finish 3rd if they bettered the result of Charlie Let Us Down Again. A place in the Cup was still possible if they won, Policia Local lost and We've Got Wood won by a larger margin than Charlie Let Us Down Again.

There were a number of permutations but one of those permutations was seemingly more distant by the end of the first half. A Richard Jones double put We've Got Wood 2-0 up. The chances of Old Sedcopians Legends securing a place in the Plate were becoming increasingly distant – they needed 5 unanswered goals in the second half to progress.

The next goal of the game clearly clinched matters as Ross Lawson made it 3-0 to We've Got Wood. Andy Bartlett rounded off the scoring to make it 4-0. We've Got Wood had secured a place in the Plate and fourth at the very least and they would now just have to wait to see if this result would take them higher.

We've Got Wood would not have to wait long to learn their fate as Policia Local and Charlie Let Us Down Again was the next game on Pitch D. Policia Local needed only a draw to join Brioche FS in the Cup competition. They could still win the group if they won the game whilst Brioche FS lost their final fixture and goal difference was overturned sufficiently.

For Charlie Let Us Down Again it was win or bust. If they won it would mean 3 teams on 9 points. We've Got Wood currently finished the group with a goal difference of +8. Charlie Let Us Down Again were currently on +5 so needed a 3 goal win to go through on goals scored or a bigger win to go through via goal difference. A smaller win would mean 3rd place and the Plate. A draw or defeat would mean 4 th place and the Plate.

We expected a close game but the first half was particularly one sided with Policia Local wasting no time at all in forging a 4-0 lead before the half-time. Two goals from Tomas Garcia Garcia (so good they named him twice) and a strike each from Antonio Bullon Pujol and Manuel Fernandez Moreno effectively put Policia Local through to the Cup.

Charlie Let Us Down Again had come from 3-0 down earlier in the group but 4-0 down against a team who had only conceded 4 goals in 4 games was too tall an order to repeat the heroics and Policia Local saw the game out, 4-0.

So, we now knew that Brioche FS and Policia Local would qualify for the Cup, We've Got Wood and Charlie Let Us Down Again would qualify for the Plate whilst Old Sedcopians Legends and St Paul's College Old Boys 3rd Team would play in the Trophy.

That left us with St Paul's College Old Boys 3rd Team versus Brioche FS. It was top v bottom so should be a relatively straightforward affair. A team with a 100% win ratio against a team with a 100% loss ratio. A team with a +7 goal difference against a team with a -20 goal difference. It seemed a mere formality that Brioche FS would secure the point they needed to clinch the Group D title.

The form book was true to, well, form and there was no major shock on the cards. From the moment Paul Bujosa put Brioche FS ahead the result never looked in doubt. Joau Ripoll broke his personal duck to make it 2-0 before a double strike from Migui Las took the score to 4-0. It also took Las to four goals on the day.

The second half kicked off at 4-0 and whilst it was more sedate in terms of goals the Brioche FS performance was crowned by Santiago Caballero who made it 5-0. A fine way for Brioche FS to conclude the group phase.
