So, onto Round 5 we go and the last attempts for the teams to stake their claim for the title, Cup qualification or Plate qualification. First up was The Average Joes against Relentless FC.

The Average Joes knew they would finish in 5th place in Group A and progress to the Trophy competition. Relentless FC were pushing for a place in the Cup. They currently sat in 3rd position – 2 points behind Los Pibes, 3 points behind Big Wille's (who were due to play each other). A win here for Relentless FC would create all sorts of permutations in terms of Cup qualification from that final game. Relentless FC would just have to win this and hope it would be enough. Anything less than a win and they would qualify for the Plate.

It was a pretty even first half and there was nothing to separate the two teams in the opening period. A Paul Lunham goal for The Average Joes and a Tyler Williams goal for Relentless FC cancelled each other out.

Could the teams be separated in the second half? They could and it would be by the odd goal. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Callum Pugh who scored for the third game running. His strike would secure all three points for Relentless FC. Final score, 2-1. Relentless FC had down their bit and it would be all eyes on Big Wille's v Los Pibes.

It was close but no cigar for The Average Joes who started and ended the group with particularly tight games but they lucked out 2-1 in each.

Before we get to the final game of Group A let's sort out the 3-0 walkover win for Bede FC over Valecuatro. The 3 points meant Bede FC would record an all-time high haul of 9 points and finish in 4th position. They would be playing Plate football this afternoon.

The 15th and final game of Group A was Big Wille's versus Los Pibes. At the start of Round 5 the two teams were 1st and 2nd. After Relentless FC's win the teams were 1st and 3rd. Big Wille's were in pole position needing only a draw to secure the Group A title. Should they lose then they would miss out on winning the group but still qualify for the Cup in second place. They could only miss out on second if they lost by 8 goals or more – for a team that was unbeaten until now you felt that was unlikely.

For Los Pibes, they knew a win would win them Group A and secure Cup qualification. A draw would see them qualify for the Cup in 2nd place – although they would be level on points with Relentless FC they would have the better goal difference. A defeat would see them miss out on the Cup and qualify for the Plate in 3rd position.

So the third interested party, Relentless FC, would require a Big Wille's win in order to qualify for the Cup. Things did not start well for Big Wille's (or Relentless FC) as Los Pibes strolled into a 3-0 lead by half-time. This was now 19 unanswered goals in their last 3.5 games.

Even though it was only half-time it looked like the game was up for Big Wille's and so it proved. The lead was extended to 4-0 in the second half and Los Pibes had won Group A and qualified for the Cup in style. Matias Nicolas Estay and Rodrigo Palacia were amongst the goals again.

Group A was then rocked by the news that Big Wille's, despite a very credible 2nd placed finish, would not take their place in the Cup draw as they would be withdrawing from the tournament due to injury/fatigue. It meant all the other teams would move up one place and so we would have Los Pibes and Relentless FC qualifying for the Cup. Bede FC and The Average Joes would qualify for the Plate.
