Round 2 started with Brioche FS versus We've Got Wood. Both teams had started off with a victory in Round 1. If either team could secure a second victory in this position it would put them in a commanding position in Group D.

The two teams' group records (including Round 1 today) over the years in the Mallorca Tournament read:

Brioche FS: Played 10, Won 7, Drew 1, Lost 2, For 21, Against 12, Points 22.

We've Got Wood: Played 6, Won 2, Drew 2, Lost 2, For 6, Against 7, Points 8.

It suggested that Brioche FS would start the game as favourites and they lived up to the billing as Juan Carlos Ensenyat put the Spanish team 1-0 up. We've Got Wood brought an enlarged and arguably stronger squad to Mallorca this year and they certainly kept pace with their opponents in this game.

The second half was very even and the teams shared four goals with Migui Las and Pau Bujosa on target for Brioche FS. Terry King (with a 35 yard screamer) and Justin Hibberd were on the mark for We've Got Wood. Final score, 3-2.

Policia Local were up next on Pitch D. Their opponents in this fixture would be Old Sedcopians Legends.

Policia Local had started off with a victory and they could join their compatriots Brioche FS at the top of the table if they could make it two wins out of two. Old Sedcopians Legends were playing Spanish opposition again at the start of Group D – they lost 3-0 to Brioche FS in Round 1 but would hope to fare better this time around.

Policia Local were the team to make the initial breakthrough when Antonio Bullon Pujol put his team 1-0 up in the first half. It was the third goal of the day for a man who was a regular scorer in our tournaments. He scored 5 in 2013 and 6 in our Veterans tournament here in 2014. He was well on the way today and he scored a second of the game after the break.

There was also a second half goal for Manuel Fernandez Moreno as Brioche FS ran out 3-0 victors. Old Sedcopians Legends would hope that not all their games would be as tough as their opening two.

To complete Round 2 we had St Paul's College Old Boys 3rd Team versus Charlie Let Us Down Again. Both teams suffered an opening game defeat although they were only narrow victories. Charlie Let Us Down Again were just one goal shy of picking up a point from their opening game whilst St Paul's College Old Boy's 3rd Team had been level with Policia Local for a while before eventually succumbing.

A win here for either team could well be the catalyst for a successful group campaign as there was still plenty of time left in Group D. It looked like Charlie Let Us Down Again would be that team. They raced to a 3-0 lead by half-time and displayed no signs of showing mercy as they ruthlessly ran out 6-0 victors.

The chief architect of St Paul's College Old Boys 3rd Team's downfall was Ed Hill-Smith who bagged four goals. In the goal-scoring stakes he was ably assisted by Max Cooke and Ed Brown.

It was a fine performance from Charlie Let Us Down Again who had their first eurofootballfives.com victory under their belts.
