As
we entered the fifth round of games each match
was becoming progressively more important. Games
were running out and points were becoming increasingly
valuable.
This
was especially true for Hampstead Heath Cruisers.
They were one of three teams at the top on 9 points
although the other two teams had a game in hand
on them and superior goal difference. This was
a game Hampstead Heath Cruisers needed to win
and win big if possible.
Lads
of Lisboa came into the game on the back of 1-0,
1-0 and 5-0 defeats. They were competitive in
those first two games but losing can become a
habit and heads can drop so they'd hope to stop
this momentum sooner rather than later.
Hampstead
Heath Cruisers scored the opening goal of the
game for the first time today. Ivo Beatty claimed
the goal as the Cruisers set about the task. Ross
Crapnell made it 2-0 and with the game moving
into its final stages the points looked secure.
Lads of Lisboa were yet to score today but they
banged in two quickfire goals to stun Hampstead
Heath Cruisers. Marco Brigli bagged the first
and moments later Fred Kingdon banged in a second.
The game finished 2-2 – a stunning comeback from
Lads of Lisboa. It was a crushing blow to Hampstead
Heath Cruisers Cup hopes though.
Spider
Mans Twos collected their 3 points from the
3-0 walkover against Indoorsoccer as we quickly
move on to the next action on the pitch.
Game
15 of Group B and what a big game this was. It
was a battle of the top two at the start of the
round. It was a battle of the two 100% records
– one (or both) of those records would go. Hampstead
Heath Cruisers had just drawn to move onto 10
points. If this game was to be a draw, the three
top teams would still be locked together with
just 2 games to go. A win for either team though
would give them a two point lead at the summit
of Group B.
Both
these teams had played 3, won 3. Both teams had
scored 10 goals. The difference was Spider Mans
5hitters had conceded twice. The PMPCAR defence
was yet to be breached. Could this be the difference
between the two teams?
It
was first blood to PMPCAR as Tiago Sousa broke
the deadlock. Spider Mans 5hitters had to find
a way through that defence now….and they did.
Adam Woodmansey was making his first Spider Mans
appearance since the 2016 Krakow Trophy. He scored
twice that day and had equaled that tally here
to day. This was potentially the most important
of his goals to date.
With
the score level at 1-1 there was still time for
someone to become a hero and score the goal that
would claim the win and claim top spot in the
table. That man was Pedro Domingos. He scored
the decisive third goal of the game as PMPCAR
won 2-1.
