Round 2 was due to start with PMPCAR versus Indoorsoccer. Indoorsoccer were “running late” during Round 1 but it now looked clear they were going to be a no-show. It was disappointing to say the least especially for the other 6 teams in Group B. We apologise to all of you.

PMPCAR collected a 3-0 walkover win and used the pitch time to play a friendly against Pangare Futebol Clube to pass the time until their first competitive match was due.

Game 5 of Group B was to be Lads of Lisboa versus Spider Mans Twos.

Lads of Lisboa were making their 6th eurofootballfives.com appearance. See the report from Round 1 above for their 2013 Lisbon debut. Their 2nd appearance was at the 2015 Budapest Fives which saw a name change to Fleet Street Elite. They finished 4th in their group to progress to the Plate competition. They drew 2-2 in the Quarter-Finals with Peckham Legends and went on to win the penalty shoot-out. A narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain's Naranjitos saw them exit at the Semi-Final stage.

Next up was the 2016 Krakow Trophy with two squads for the first time. The Krakow tournament was of a particularly high standard in 2016 and as a result the two teams found it tough going – Fleet Street Elite 1 finished 6 th in Group A, Fleet Street Elite A finished 5 th in Group C. Both teams avoided the Wooden Spoon and would play in the Plate knock-out competition where they would exit at the Quarter-Final stage.

The 2017 Mallorca Fives saw them compete with 2 squads again and it was equally tough going. The two teams finished 6 th in their groups and would go on to compete against each other in the Wooden Spoon play-off. Fleet Street Elite 1 defeated Fleet Street A 8-2.

2018 saw them visit Riga with a depleted squad. They struggled for results in a tough group which saw them finish in 5th position. The Wooden Spoon Semi-Final saw them exit 3-1 to Stag Park Rangers.

Today they started with a 1-0 defeat and it was to be another narrow loss in Round 2. A Steve Kettle header at the far post was enough to take all 3 points for Spider Mans Twos.

To complete Round 2 we had Hampstead Heath Cruisers versus Athletico Armada. Hampstead Heath Cruisers had collected a 3-0 walkover already but this would be their first match on the field of play. They must have been champing at the bit to get their campaign underway in earnest.

Athletico Armada had picked up a 1-0 victory over the Lads of Lisboa in Round 1 and were on the victory trail again when Tom Vivian put the Armada team 1-0 up. It was going so well for Athletico Armada but then Hampstead Heath Cruisers clicked into gear.

A Steve Slocombe free-kick was the catalyst. He scored direct from the free-kick and his team hit a purple patch. They went ahead at 2-1 before extending the lead to 3-1 and then 4-1. Steve Slocombe claimed all 4 goals and it proved to be a sensational comeback. Hampstead Heath Cruisers were our early leaders in Group B.
