Slavoj Consumer (Cze)

The Plate Final would see JNJ Pinewood versus Slavoj Consumer. With seven games of football already under their belt the two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners and not runners-up medals in the presentation.

In our history we have had 11 (eleven!) finals between opposition from the Czech Republic and England. As you can see below the majority of finals have gone in favour of the English team (8-3) so JNJ Pinewood would be buoyed by history.

Things were going well early on for JNJ Pinewood to continue this fine record as Matt Walker scored his fourth goal of the day and first since the Group phase. Lukas Pokorny pulled Slavoj Consumer level though and it was 1-1 at half-time.

Then came the big moment of the game as Michal Dudon had the pull out wide on the Slavoj Consumer right and there looked little danger for JNJ Pinewood until he drove into the final third and from just inside the touchline hit a thunderbolt in at the near post and into the side netting of the far corner. There was some doubt whether the ball had crossed the line in front of the far post or had burst through the side netting. It was a close call but the majority of those watching seemed to think the goal was a good one although we, as we type this, could not guarantee it 100%. The initial instant-reaction of the players suggested it was a goal but then doubts were raised and there was a degree of uncertainty.

Regardless of the merits or otherwise of the goal or ‘goal' it changed the course of the game and when Dudon struck his sixth of the tournament it was all over at 3-1. JNJ Pinewood, whilst disappointed, should not be disconsolate though as they added a great deal to this tournament and we are sure success will come to them in future tournaments.

For today though, we present you the 2012 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament Plate Winners – Slavoj Consumer.
