We were at the 2012 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament Cup Semi-Final stage and from 18 teams who started the day we were down to the final 4. The final 4 would be JNJ High Wycombe Warriors, JNJ Belgium A Team, JNJ Russia B and JNJ Croatia – it would be a brave person to pick the winner from these four excellent teams.

The first Semi-Final would be contested by JNJ High Wycombe Warriors and JNJ Belgium A Team. JNJ High Wycombe had met the Belgium Fun Team earlier and won 5-0 but the A Team would be a different proposition.

The Belgium A Team had only conceded two goals in six games so far today so it was therefore a great achievement by the English team to score twice in the first half and lead 2-0 thanks to Delroy Howell (6 for the tournament) and Rob Buckland. How would the Belgium team respond? After 5 wins and 1 draw this was the first crisis they had to face so far today and you may think goals from Thomas Ceulemans and Frank Cesar would put them back in it….you'd be wrong though.

JNJ High Wycombe Warriors seemed to have the measure of the Belgium A Team defence as it was breached by Nicki Mills and twice by Alex Woodger (also 6 for the tournament) for a sensational 5-2 win. On this form you wouldn't bet against JNJ High Wycombe Warriors going all the way….let's hope we've not jinxed them

We were probably as shocked as JNJ Belgium A Team not necessarily at the fact they were beaten but the nature of the defeat with five goals conceded. It was uncharacteristic of their performance for the rest of the day and they were out. The Belgium teams (both A and Fun) represented their nation superbly today and represented what eurofootballfives.com is all about – good football, a great atmosphere and playing a fun yet competitive game. Until next time…..

So, who would take their place in the Final from the second Semi-Final? The two teams set to do battle were JNJ Croatia against JNJ Russia B. Croatia had met Russia once before already today in Group A but was the Russian A team and it resulted in a 2-1 victory for Russia….the only defeat of the day for JNJ Croatia.

JNJ Croatia would want a measure of revenge but more importantly they wanted a place in the Cup Final. It all started well for the team from Zagreb as they forged a 3-1 lead by half-time. Hrvoje Glavas scored his 5 th goal of the day along with goal number 7 of the day for Patrik Godec and goal number 5 of the day for Neven Marinic. This Croatian team had plenty of goals in it from everywhere and none more so than Patrik Godec who was currently the tournament top goalscorer.

JNJ Russia were still in the game at half-time thanks to a goal from Rustan Kechernikov (also number 5 of the day for him) but at 3-1 they had a lot to do to avoid going out of the tournament. The comeback was on when they reduced the deficit to 3-2. Could they find an equalizer and take the game into extra time? Unfortunately for them time was working against them and when the referee blew the whistle for full time it was still 3-2 and JNJ Croatia were victorious.

Once again, we'd like to thank JNJ Russia for making the trip from Moscow. The day was not yet over for JNJ Croatia as they had a Cup Final to prepare for.
