* JNJ Croatia win via Golden Goal

After 59 games of football we came down to the most important of them all. Game 60 – The 2012 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament Cup Final.

We were treated to a game that was worthy of a final. The best thing about the final was that as the two teams took to the field it was a 50/50 guess on who would come out on top. Both teams had reached the final showing a great deal of quality and determination to reach this stage. Both teams had lost just the one game throughout the day so there really was very little to choose. OK people – where's your money?

The crowd got their chance to cheer early on when JNJ High Wycombe broke the deadlock to take an early lead through Alex Parkinson. It was his first goal of the day and a vital goal. Taking the lead in a Cup Final not just gives your team a 1-0 lead but gives you a huge advantage tactically as it forces the other team to attack whereby you can potentially pick them off on the counter attack. The lead and the tactical advantage did not last too long though as Hrvoje Glavas' sixth goal of the tournament fired JNJ Croatia level. It was 1-1 at half-time.

In the second half it was more of the same as you could not really predict a winner. There was no team dominating so it would be a question of who could take their chances. Alex Parkinson took his chance when he bagged his second of the game but again it was Hrvoje Glavas who equalized for JNJ Croatia – this time direct from a free kick. Time ran out and at full time we were level at 2-2.

We now had potentially two periods of extra time but extra time in all eurofootballfives.com tournaments in Golden Goal. As if there was not enough pressure in a Cup Final anyway the Golden Goal just added to it. A moment of brilliance could win it for you, a mistake could lose it for you. Gladly we had a moment of brilliance that would decide the title.

That moment was a glorious strike from Hrvoje Glavas who hit it hard and true into the bottom corner – Frempong in the JNJ High Wycombe goal had no chance. The goal completed a hat-trick for Glavas, won him the Top Goalscorer trophy and, more importantly, secured tournament victory for JNJ Croatia. The goal sparked wild scenes of celebration from the Croatian entourage and if there was a prize for best celebration they probably would have won that too!

We offer our consolations to JNJ High Wycombe Warriors who came so close to glory but missed out by the narrowest of margins. They were certainly good enough to have won.

Our congratulations go to JNJ Croatia – worthy 2012 Euro Soccer Tournament Champions! We hope to see you all again at a tournament very soon.
