Round 2 of Group A began with Team Zug taking on GBS Reds B. The former were looking to make it two wins in two games whereas GBS Reds B were aiming to avoid two defeats in two games. In eurofootballfives.com tournaments the opening games can be very important and set the tone for the day so Team Zug would hope to continue their good form. GBS Reds B would need to turn fortunes around quickly.

It did not look good early on for GBS Reds B as Raphael Patricot scored twice in the opening period and Team Zug were 2-0 ahead. It was a perfect start for Team Zug and they were well on their way to a maximum 6 points. In the second half Joan Fuste scored his second goal in as many games to make it 3-0 and the victory was sealed.

Team Zug were enjoying the perfect start to their campaign. GBS Reds B still had three group games remaining to kickstart their tournament challenge.

In the next game JNJ Croatia were looking to emulate Team Zug by making it two wins out of two. In their way stood GTSC who had slipped to defeat in their opening fixture and sought their first points of the tournament.

JNJ Croatia had been impressive in their first game that had seen them top the early Group A table but they found themselves behind at the break in this match as goals from Luc Swannet and Bram Vercauteren gave the Belgian team a 2-1 lead.

Berislav Paic had scored in the first half for JNJ Croatia which kept his team in touching distance of GTSC. In the second half they drew level through Hrvoje Glavas. Things get better for JNJ Croatia and worse for GTSC as Berislav Paic scored his second goal of the game and it was 3-2 to Croatia.

The second Paic goal proved to be the winner and JNJ Croatia had secured their second victory and returned to the top of the table. It was a very good performance from GTSC and they can consider themselves unlucky not to earn any points from the game.

Game 6 of Group A saw JNJ Pinewood of England take on JNJ Russia A. JNJ Pinewood were looking to bounce back from a heavy opening game defeat whereas JNJ Russia were looking to build on a comprehensive win and join Team Zug and JNJ Croatia at the summit of Group A.

Given that JNJ Russia A had won 5-1 and JNJ Pinewood had lost 5-0 out you could be forgiven for thinking this may be one-side….not at all. JNJ Pinewood were much improved and we can put that opening performance down as a blemish. They were solid at the back and reached half-time level at 0-0.

The game would not end without a goal though and in the second half the deadlock was broken by Vladimir Doroshenkov's second goal in successive games. The captain had certainly scored a captain's goal and the strike was a hugely valuable one as it earned all 3 points for his team. It meant JNJ Russia A were one of three teams at the top of the group on 6 points.

For JNJ Pinewood it was a second defeat but it was a fine performance and, like GTSC in the game before, can consider themselves unfortunate to end the game empty handed.
