JNJ
Russia B suffered a setback in their previous
game and with JNJ Wuppertal A winning above
they were now 6 points off the lead. Their next
opponents were GBS Reds A and the Russians needed
to get back to winning ways. GBS Reds A were
in exactly the same position on 4 points so
needed a win themselves to pursue their Cup
dreams. A draw would see both lose ground and
a defeat would almost certainly see the Cup
hopes over.
With
two games left (including this one) the pressure
was now on and it looked like GBS Reds A were
handling the pressure the better when they took
a first half lead through Josef Salatek. JNJ
Russia B were now staring at the possibility
of two defeats in a row but Maxim Zilberman's
third goal of the day rescued them to make it
1-1 and earn a vital 1-1 draw.
The
draw meant the teams were now 5 points off the
lead of Group C but a win in their next encounter
could easily see them qualify as one of the
best 3rd placed teams. There was still a lot
of work to do though.
