As we entered the final Round of games we had a whole host of potential outcomes regarding who would qualify for the Cup, the Plate and the Wooden Spoon. There was still everything to play for as the final round of games kicked off.

We'll start on Pitch A with 9 Nana Budds versus SV Zoo. Surprisingly given these two teams pedigree in our tournaments they were sitting in 5 th and 6 th positions. It meant that the best 9 Nana Budds could finish was 4 th position if they could take victory and DHFC lost their final game. This would also ensure Plate football. A draw would mean 5th and Plate football. Defeat would mean 6 th and the Wooden Spoon given that Hangover 96 had already secured 3 points in Group A.

For SV Zoo the equation was pretty simple – win. They could reach the Plate with a win by leapfrogging their opponents. Anything less would mean the Wooden Spoon for them.

The game was very tight again – as had most of 9 Nana Budds games been. We mentioned in Round 4 that too many draws can stunt a team's progress but clearly they are better than a defeat and if they'd taken a point from those two defeats and won here they would still be in a shout for a place in the Cup. At half-time we were at 0-0 and this game was on a knife edge.

Would we get a goal? Which way would it go? Yes we would and it would go the way of 9 Nana Budds. Will Crowther was the man who came up with the goods and it was his third strike of the campaign that ensured Plate football for 9 Nana Budds. SV Zoo would have to settle for the Wooden Spoon today. We will see them again at the Lisbon Tournament in September where we are sure they will reach greater heights.

On Pitch B, DHFC met the Titanium Hollyollers. The Titanium Hollyrollers were on a fine run of form winning their last two games to give them a shot at Cup qualification – a win would seal it in second place. As Groups A and B had now finished we knew a draw would be good enough to qualify as one of the best third placed teams. A defeat would be enough if it was by 2 goals or less. If it was by 3 goals or more then their opponents, DHFC, would be going through to the Cup in their stead.

This had been a thrilling group so far and you wouldn't put any result beyond the teams – as it was, we were left stuck at 0-0 at half-time. This was a result that would much better suit the Titanium Hollyrollers. DHFC needed a goal and they got it in the second half thanks to Tom Holder. Sadly for them though, Titanium Hollyrollers scored twice. Niels De Groot scored for the fourth successive game and Andy Nolan scored his second of the tournament.

Congratulations to The Titanium Hollyrollers who had qualified for the Cup, DHFC would progress to the Plate competition.

That left us with Missing Magpies versus Pink Flamingos B. Here is what was at stake:

Missing Magpies win: This would see Missing Magpies crowned Group C winners with Pink Flamingos and Titanium Hollyrollers in 2nd and 3rd on 10 points. Goal difference would decide it with Pink Flamingos currently on +5, Titanium Hollyrollers on +4 (having scored less).

A draw: Should the game finish in a draw then Pink Flamingos would win the group on 11 points. Titanium Hollyrollers would finish 2nd on 10 points with GD of +4, Missing Magpies would finish 3rd on 10 points with GD of +2.

Pink Flamingos B win: This would see Pink Flamingos champions with 13 points, Titanium Hollyrollers 2nd on 10 points with Missing Magpies 3rd on 9 points.

Whatever happened all three teams would be competing in the Cup this afternoon. The higher the finish in the table the easier the Quarter-Final they would earn and obviously the pride of winning the group was at stake.

With the game underway it was Pink Flamingos B who struck first – James Rivers bagged his second goal of the day and as things stood they would be Group C champions. Missing Magpies could only achieve that feat by winning so they needed two unanswered goals after the break. When the next goal came it wasn't them restoring parity but Pink Flamingos B giving themselves a two-goal cushion. Mike Williamson's third of the day gave them some breathing space before Tom Gilbert put the icing on the cake to seal a 3-0 win.

Congratulations to Pink Flamingos B on winning Group C and to Pink Flamingos overall who also took Group A.
