Last but not least, we come to Group C where the group began with Berlin-based Titanium Hollyrollers taking on the might of 9 Nana Budds.

9 Nana Budds were make their fourth eurofootballfives.com appearance in Berlin. They got off to a cracking start winning the inaugural 2009 Valencia Fives. In the 2011 Algarve Open they finished in a strong group behind 2 times champions Goldsmith Williams before a 3-1 Quarter-Final exit to Cheesecake FC (who have since won the Mallorca Tournament in 2014). At the 2014 Budapest Fives they went through their group 5 games unbeaten without conceding a goal but finished 2nd behind Csabagyongye (who won the 2015 Budapest Fives). This meant they drew CIS Committee of Belarus who won the tournament and accounted for 9 Nana Budds 3-0 in the Quarter-Finals.

It was honours even here in Berlin as the teams shared a goal each in the opening period. Captain Jack Kennedy opened the scoring for the travelling team whilst Andy Nolan scored for Titanium Hollyrollers. The second half was a carbon copy in terms of the score as a Will Crowther goal for 9 Nana Budds and another for Andy Nolan meant 1-1 at half-time became 2-2 at full-time. It was a solid start for both teams.

Match 2 in Group C saw SV Zoo of Germany taking on England's Missing Magpies. Both teams had a rich eurofootballfives.com tradition and this would be a second meeting of the two teams and the second time they had met as their opening fixture.

SV Zoo versus Missing Magpies was the very first game in Group E of the 2014 Barcelona Fives. Back in October there was a comprehensive 5-1 victory for the English team in Spain. Here in Germany it was a much tighter affair although Missing Magpies had the ascendency again. A first half Dan Simpson strike game Missing Magpies the edge going into half-time.

Regular readers of our post-tournament reports will know that it is well documented that SV Zoo are yet to win their opening fixture in eurofootballfives.com knock-out tournaments. A clean sheet for Missing Magpies ensured that frustrating run for SV Zoo would continue to 6 tournaments and counting:

2012 Krakow Trophy : Lost 2-0 to Vamos (Pol)

2013 Berlin Fives : Lost 5-2 SLFN Z (Eng)

2014 Berlin Fives : Lost 3-1 to Grant Thornton (Fra)

2014 Barcelona Fives : Lost 5-1 to Missing Magpies (Eng)

2015 Bratislava Fives: Lost 6-0 to Fireball (Svk)

2015 Berlin Fives: Lost 1-0 to Missing Magpies (Eng)

It mattered not to Missing Magpies who were off and running with all three points.

The last two teams to get underway were DHFC and Pink Flamingos B. Both teams were appearing in eurofootballfives.com action for the first time and they were about to have their first taste of eurofootballfives.com action.

Pink Flamingos B had already seen their A team get off to a flyer with a 5-0 victory over Coverton Road in Group A and so there was pressure on them to emulate their counterparts. It seemed the B team were up to the task.

Captain Ed Bartram get the ball rolling as he struck the opening blow. Mike Williamson then doubled the lead for his side and they took a 2-0 lead into half-time. It meant Pink Flamingos as a club had now scored 7 without reply in Berlin so far across the A and B teams. Could it be pink domination in Berlin?

DHFC battled hard after the break but were unable to penetrate the Pink Flamingos B back line and the game finished 2-0.
