Group B began with Hurting Berlin from Ireland taking on Fail Madrid of England. Fail Madrid were on debut and had a blank canvas on which to paint their footballing artistry.

Hurting Berlin have competed under various names over the years including Mestallaban, Dot Cottons Flaps, Puskas Dolls and Hungary Hungary Heggos. Berlin will mark their fourth eurofootballfives.com competition. At the 2010 Prague Masters they struggled in the group stage before finding their feet in the afternoon knock-out phase. A 4-2 win over Celtic Craic followed by a 2-0 win over the New Camps earned them the Wooden Spoon playoff victory. In Valencia they were massively improved where they went all the way to the Cup Final before finishing 2nd to Hungarian team, FC Miracle. Their two teams in Budapest finished 5th and 6th in their respective groups. The Puskas Dolls went the furthest in the knock-out phase winning their Quarter-Final 3-2 against Red Cow Belgrade before succumbing 1-0 to Bozeat All Stars in the Semi-Finals.

Could Hurting Berlin recapture that Valencia form? Sadly for Fail Madrid it looked like they could. A first half Lorcan Bannon goal and a second half Shane Murphy goal ensured it would be Hurting Berlin that would put all 3 points on the board.

It was a tough start for Fail Madrid in Europe but there was still plenty of time for them to get their tournament challenge underway!

Next up was Southgate County and Tinniedad & Tobacco – both from England. Southgate County were making their first eurofootballfives.com appearance so we looked forward to seeing them in action on Pitch B.

Tinniedad & Tobacco made their debut at the 2014 Barcelona Fives and they made an impressive start to life in eurofootballfives.com competition. They swept to glory in Group A with 10 points out of a maximum 12. The Cup Quarter-Final saw them defeat 2012 Valencia Fives chapions, FC Miracle of Hungary, 2-1. They then met 2013 Barcelona Fives champions, Los Swallacticos of NI, in the Semi-Finals. They were moments away from victory until a last gasp equaliser and a penalty shoot-out exit. Los Swallacticos conceded they were lucky to get through. Tinniedad & Tobacco will be a contender here in Berlin.

Tinniedad & Tobacco started as they left off in Barcelona and took a 1-0 lead – Oliver Jackson scoring his team's first of the day. In the second half goals from Jon McKinley and Mike Wilkes wrapped up a confident 3-0 win.

It was a tough start for Southgate County and they would hope not all games would be as difficult as this one.

Game 3 of Group B was due to be Scandittack FC against Rayford Athletic. However, Scandittack FC – last year's Plate winners – were late casualties and unable to join us. Rayford Athletic collected a 3-0 walkover victory.
