Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 4. Match 10 of the group promised to be a top of the table clash between Ecuador 100% and Alabama Hotpockets. Ecuador 100% had 3 wins out of 3, Alabama Hotpockets had 2 wins out of 3 but were still unbeaten after a draw in their other game. A win for either side would virtually guarantee Cup qualification for the victor. A draw would guarantee these two teams went into Round 5 as the top two teams.

We're sure Alabama Hotpockets needed no reminding of the quality of Ecuador 100% but in the group stage of our tournaments they had lost just of their last 13 group games although there had been four draws in that run. So, if Alabama Hotpockets could stay in the game a point was surely possible and if they could eek out a goal a famous win could be on the cards.

At half-time it was a case of ‘so far, so good' for the Alabama Hotpockets as they were level at 0-0. As the game went on the first goal became increasingly important. When it came, it was from the boot of Jhon who made it 1-0 to Ecuador 100%. Felipe's second of the tournament made it 2-0 and sealed the points for men in yellow.

The win guaranteed Ecuador 100% the Group C title and a place in the Cup with a game to spare. Many congratulations to them. Alabama Hotpockets remained in second place but were now looking over their shoulders a little bit.

Match 11 of Group C saw AFC Blue Boys 1 (Eng) versus Lindfield FC B (Eng). The teams sat in fourth and third place respectively at the start of the game. A win would draw them closer to Alabama Hotpockets and a place in the Cup. A defeat would see them most likely reach the Plate.

Results for both these teams had been ip and down so trying to call this game would be tricky. AFC Blue Boys 1 had beaten Pinkneys Green FC 2-1, narrowly lost to the champions 2-1 then lost 1-0 to Sunrisers Madrid. Lindfield FC B had lost 2-0 to the champions but had then taken 4 points from 6 including a draw against the team directly above them.

Lindfield FC B arguably had the momentum with them and it was Louis Pople who scored his second of the tournament for 1-0. That lead evaporated when Tomasz Mikita made it 1-1. Jon Cunnigham restored the lead for Lindfield FC B before Louis Pople gave them a 2 goal cushion at half-time.

After the break Jon Cunnigham extended the lead to extinguish any hopes of a Polish comeback. Final score, 4-1. Lindfield FC B moved up to a share of second place.

The game that would take us into the final round of fixtures would be Sunrisers Madrid versus Pinkneys Green FC. It shows how quickly things can change that an opening two defeats Sunrisers Madrid off-field chat was about the Wooden Spoon. Now, with a win under their belts and a fixture to come against the team in sixth position, another win would see them just a point off the Cup qualification places.

The fact things can turn around quickly could give hope to Pinkneys Green FC as results had not gone their way this morning. They'd lead 1-0 in their opener before a narrow defeat. They had then suffered defeats to the top 2. With this and their final group game to come they still had a chance to turn their fortunes around. We've seen many a time a team get a couple of wins late in the group and turn that into a Plate-winning run.

The breakthrough in this game was made in the first half when Jack Eagle gave Sunrisers Madrid a 1-0 lead. It was a lead they would keep until half-time. It meant over that since falling 2-0 behind in Round 2 to Lindfield FC B, Sunrisers Madrid had scored 3 goals without reply in 4 halves of football. They were certainly turning their form around and it wasn't a flash in the pan.

Could Pinkneys Green FC get back into after the break? The short answer to that is yes. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Thomas Hicks who scored his second goal of the tournament. It was a goal that would earn his team a point. Full time, 1-1.
