Round 3 started with Alabama Hotpockets taking on Lindfield FC B. It was the league leaders taking on the team in fourth place.

Alabama Hotpockets had made a fantastic start to the day with two consecutive 3-0 wins and they looked set to continue that fine form when Darragh Enright scored for the third game on the bounce to give his team a 1-0 lead. Paddy Londole was still yet to concede in the tournament but that was to soon end when a poor pass out was pounced upon by Jon Cunningham to level things up at 1-1.

Alabama Hotpockets were back in front before half-time though with Patrick O Brien scoring his fourth goal in three games. At the break, they were halfway there to making it 3 wins out of 3 and maintaining that 100% record. Lindfield FC B were still very much in this game though and they were looking to build on the win in their previous game. They produced a second equalizer as Louis Pople started his tally of goals with a crucial equalizer. We say crucial because it was a goal that earned his team a point as the match would finish level at 2-2.

Alabama Hotpockets 100% record was gone but they remained unbeaten. Lindfield FC B were looking good with 4 points from a possible 6.

Pinkneys Green FC had so far suffered two defeats so when they walked on to the pitch in Round 3 the last team they probably wanted to play was the defending champions, Ecuador 100%. From an Ecuadorian perspective, the title defence had started off well with two wins from two. A third win here would see them move two points clear at the top of Group C.

The formbook suggested an away win but Pinkneys Green battled hard and were very much in the game during the first half. There was only the one goal to separate the two teams and that goal came from Felipe for Ecuador 100%.

In these games the second goal can often be the killer. Whilst such a deficit has been overturned before it is often a psychological blow that can be difficult to recover from. Jose put Ecuador 100% 2-0 up in the second half and they never looked back. Luis made it 3-0 before Jose added a fourth.

Ecuador 100% were seemingly made for top spot and they took their place at the top of the tree.

Sunrisers Madrid and AFC Blue Boys 1 would meet in game 9 of Group C. The former had broken their scoring duck in the last round and were now looking to break their points duck. They were up against a team who had won 2-1 and lost 2-1 but that defeat was to Ecuador 100% and AFC Blue Boys 1 ran them close.

Sunrisers Madrid produced their best performance of the day in this fixture. Defensively they were on the money as they collected their first clean sheet of the day whilst at the other end Dom Toner scored his second goal in as many games. The combination of the two meant European win #1 was in the bag for the Sunrisers as they moved level with their opponents in joint 4th place in the table.

The defeat for AFC Blue Boys 1 saw them lose touch with the leaders above them and they now had work to do in order to qualify for the Cup competition.
