Deportivo
Dooradoyle are the most capped travelling team
in the tournament having made their debut at
the 2011 Amsterdam Fives. They reached the Plate
Quarter-Finals with success over Goals Aloud
(Wal). In the Semi-Finals they were victorious
3-1 over CEPL of Holland (who'd later become
2012 Amsterdam Fives winners) before a narrow
defeat in the final to Rigford Seahawks (also
2009 Krakow Trophy & 2012 Berlin Fives Cup
winners and 2009 Prague Trophy Plate winners).
In the 2012 Algarve Open they drew a tough group
and finished 4 th to make the Plate again. Their
day ended against French side CFC B at the Quarter-Final
stage on this occasion.
In
2013, Barcelona was their destination of choice
where they had a very successful day – they
entered two teams and won both the Plate and
Trophy competitions. They moved on to the 2014
Berlin Fives and it was almost more success
as they reached the Plate Final again. A tough
fought 0-0 draw lead to a penalty shoot-out
and Scandittack FC of Germany won the shoot-out
2-0.
In
the 2015 Algarve Open where two injury ravaged
squads finished 5 th and 6 th in their groups
before a Wooden Spoon win and a Plate Quarter-Finals
defeat. Later in 2015 at Barcelona Fives, they
looked to repeat their success of 2013 when
they competed as Depo Legends who won two and
lost two to finish third in Group D and qualify
for the Plate. They defeated Saladmode FC 2-1
in the Quarter-Finals before their day was ended
(1-0) by Hardly Athletic.
2017
saw a third trip to the Barcelona Fives where
they competed with 2 teams – Deportivo Dooradoyle
and Deportivo 2.0. The former finished 7 th
of 8 teams in Group A. Deportivo 2.0 produced
4 wins as they claimed 4 th position in Group
D. They qualified for the Plate but went out
3-2 to Krakowcaine.
At
the 2018 Gdansk Tournament. The Deportivo Dooradoyle
squad secured 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats from
their group games. They finished in fourth position
to qualify for the Plate. They met FC Maroon
in the Quarter-Finals and drew 1-1 before going
through on penalties. Their run ended in the
Semi-Finals as they lost 5-2 to Freshers FC.
At
the 2019 Budapest Fives, Deportivo Dooradoyle
got off to a flyer with a 1-0 win over the defending
champions. They followed up with a 3-2 win over
(then) 2x eurofootballfives.com champions Skidmarks.
A surprise 3-0 defeat to New Wave Funk followed
before they were back on track with a 3-1 win
over Tom's Mum Is A Tramp FC. They then suffered
a 2-1 defeat to 2016 champions Meglepetes before
a 1-0 loss to Paris Expats FC. They finished
fourth in the table to progress to the Plate
despite two particularly great wins. In the
Plate Quarters they met another French team,
World Pinteur and progressed 2-1 on penalties
after a 1-1 draw. They lost in the Semi-Finals
as New Wave Funk did the double over them, 2-1.
It
had been a tough start for them here in Mallorca
with 2 opening defeats. Their next opponents
were RSC Andylecht who had 2 draws to their
name so far. It was RSC Andylecht who lead in
this one thanks to an Andrew Sumner goal but
they were pegged back by Patrick Cullen's strike
for Deportivo.
In
the second half Stuart Knowles put RSC Andylecht
back ahead and this time there was no way back
for Deportivo Dooradoyle. RSC stretched their
unbeaten run and now registered their first
win of the tournament.
