Round 5 began with Los Froggies Del Patron versus Luca Toni FC. It was fourth versus first.

Los Froggies Del Patron had it all to do. A win would put them joint top and with RSC Andylecht & Malo Guerreros due to play each other would guarantee a top 3 position and 10 points in third place would see them reach the Cup. A draw would be ok for third if RSC Andylecht loss but may not see them as one of the two best third placed teams so the French would have to aim for the win. A defeat would ensure 4 th place.

For Luca Toni FC a win would guarantee the Group B title. A draw would be enough to qualify for the Cup and possibly win the group still (if RSC Andylecht & Malo Guerreros drew). Due to their goal difference, a defeat would probably also be ok for Cup qualification assuming it was not a catastrophic loss.

The game started perfectly for Los Froggies Del Patron as they lead through Pierre Lachaud. They maintained their lead until half-time and they were almost there. They had to safely negotiate the second half but it would not be easy against the league leaders. Luca Toni FC equalized through Beni Weber and the French now needed to score again. Instead the crucial third goal and winning goal of the game went to Hector Navarro of Luca Toni FC.

It was a brave effort from Los Froggies Del Patron but it would not be enough. Congratulations to Luca Toni FC who had won their group for the third time in four appearances at our tournaments.

Into Game 15 of Group B and we had Malo Guerreros v RSC Andylecht to finish off proceedings.

The winner of this tie would be guaranteed second place in the table and a place in the Cup. The loser would finish third and have to see if they had enough points to qualify as one of the best third placed finishers. Malo Guerreros on 9 had a good chance, RSC Andylecht on 8 less so. A draw may well be enough to ensure both teams reached the Cup (subject to results in Group A/C).

These two teams had met before at the 2019 Amsterdam Sixes. RSC Andylecht won 6-0 on that occasion. Back then it was also the final group game for these teams and Malo Guerreros had been knocked out already so may have been dispirited. With 3 wins out of 4 today, Malo Guerreros had much more to play for this time.

However, it looked like history was repeating itself. Jana Ranganathan and Andrew Sumner put RSC Andylecht 2-0 up by half-time. A John Moore double and a second goal of the game from Andrew Sumner made it 5-0. There was to be no repeat of the 6-0 scoreline which was probably scant consolation for Malo Guerreros.

However, Malo Guerreros had done enough to qualify for the Cup in third place. RSC Andylecht would go through in 2nd position. Well done to both.
