After the lunch interval we began with Funsport B and Intermore FC. Funsport B looked to be one of the challengers for the title and their only defeat was to league leaders Sao Marcos. Intermore FC had two games left and needed to win them both to make the knockout stages.

 

Given the performances of their opponents so far this probably one of Intermore FC's best displays. Their place at the foot of the table betrayed their performance and they pushed their Portuguese opponents all the way.

 

In the end it was a solitary strike in each half which settled this one as Nuno Martins in the first half and then Rui Lopez in the second half earned all 3 points for Funsport B. It was a result that pushed the Portuguese up to 2nd in the table.

 
 
 

Like Intermore FC, Dickie Dogs also needed two wins to make the knock-out stages. This one was an absolute must not only for the 3 points but also because it was against the team they were chasing for fourth. Valejas A.C knew that if they could avoid defeat they would qualify for the knock-out stages in 4th place at worst.

 

The winning goal came early and it came from Carlos Ribeirinho's second goal of the day. It was the only strike of the game and it meant another narrow defeat for Dickie Dogs.

 

The result confirmed the 4 teams who would be in the knock-out stages but the order of the top four was far from settled.

 
 
 

The final game of Round 4 was between the two teams at the top of the Veterans League at the end of Round 3. The fixture as St Paul's College Old Boys versus Sao Marcos.

 

The last time Sao Marcos played in a top of the table encounter they saw off Funsport B 2-1. Could they maintain their 100% winning record and see off St Paul's College Old Boys in the same way.

 

It was going to plan in the first half when Marcolinho David put the Portuguese ahead. Helder Adega added to his growing tally after the break before the goalkeeper got in on the act to seal a 3-0 win. Sao Marcos moved onto 12 points and the group win was in their sights.

 

St Paul's College Old Boys slipped to third in the table but safely qualified.
