As we entered the final Round of fixtures there was to be a touch of controversy. FC Maroon were due to play Groundforce Lisboa but the latter were nowhere to be seen after the lunch break. The allotted time came and went and still no sign, so FC Maroon were awarded a 3-0 walkover win and we proceeded to the match between HS Décor and FC Dynamoes.

The HS Décor and FC Dynamoes game was a sensational game. HS Décor were already Group B winners but had a 100% record to protect. FC Dynamoes desperately needed the 3 points to qualify for the Cup and maintain their hopes of overall glory in the Lisbon Tournament.

FC Dynamoes swept into a 2-0 lead through, who else, but Jon Stead. These were his 9 th and 10 th goals of the tournament and the golden boot award looked like a 2-way fight between him and Malakias Ramos of Funsport A (in Group A). HS Décor showed why they were Group B champions though and hit back to make it 2-2 by half-time.

FC Dynamoes lead was restored after the break as Stead completed his third hat-trick of the tournament, 3-2. HS Décor again struck back for 3-3 and then took the lead for the first time to make it 4-3. It was the decisive blow as that's how it finished. FC Dynamoes were now relying on CSB Stars to lose in order to make the Cup.

A few of you may be wondering about where the controversy came from re FC Maroon and the walkover against Groundforce Lisboa. Well, during the HS Décor v FC Dynamoes game, Groundforce returned citing traffic delays after the lunchbreak. By rights we had to enforce the walkover but we agreed to talk to FC Maroon to see if they would play the fixture. It was a difficult position for us and a difficult position for FC Maroon. FC Maroon very sportingly agreed to play the fixture.

Before that though we had the matter of ACE & The Swagmen versus CSB Stars. CSB Stars knew that a win would guarantee Cup qualification and a draw may be enough subject to FC Maroon's result. A defeat would mean they were out as they would finish below FC Dynamoes.

ACE & The Swagmen were playing for pride (and the hopes of FC Maroon and FC Dynamoes). It was always going to be a big ask for The Swagmen and so it proved as CSB Stars opened up a 3-1 lead at half-time that became 5-2 by full-time. CSB Stars had ensured Cup qualification so well done to them.

ACE & The Swagmen's tournament was over and it was a pleasure to see them all on tour again. Special mention goes to James Larcombe for his 5 goals on the day and we thank him for organizing the troops. We hope to see you all again soon.

The final game of Group B was therefore Groundforce Lisboa versus FC Maroon. The fact the game was going ahead was due to the generosity of FC Maroon and if we had a fair play award for the tournament then they would certainly win it. This is especially true as their own future in the tournament rested on the result of this game.

The results above meant that Groundforce Lisboa and FC Maroon were in direct competition for the last remaining Plate qualification place. FC Maroon needed to avoid defeat, Groundforce Lisboa had to win. We reached half-time at 0-0 and it was the English side qualifying at this stage.

Tiago Correia's 5th goal in the competition for Groundforce Lisboa meant that all changed and it was now the Portuguese team sat in the qualification places. As hard as they tried, FC Maroon were unable to find the goal they needed to send them through.

We sadly had to bid farewell to FC Maroon on the pitch and feel their sporting gesture deserved more reward.
