ACE & The Swagmen (Eng)

Group B began with Groundforce Lisboa of Portugal and FC Dynamoes of England. Both teams were on debut and both had the opportunity to impress and lay down the marker for the rest of the Group B teams to follow.

Groundforce Lisboa were a team of players all working at Lisbon airport – of their 10-man squad some were still working so the Portuguese team would have to make do with a reduced squad of 6 players for the early part of the tournament. It didn't seem too much of a problem as they played pretty well….but not quite well enough.

By half-time FC Dynamoes had opened up a 2-1 lead as Jon Stead outgunned Daniel Farias of Groundforce Lisboa. In the second half Jon Stead made it 3-1 and completed a fine hat-trick. Daniel Farias reduced the deficit to 3-2 but FC Dynamoes had done enough. They were up and running with their first 3 points of the day.

Match 2 saw FC Maroon take on CSB Stars. FC Maroon were the sister squad of FC Dad but were making their debut. They had seen their stable-mates win their opening game – could they match that feat?

They played well in the opening period but a win was looking tough as they trailed 2-1 at the break. Hertej Rattan scored his team's first goal in eurofootballfives.com competition for FC Maroon. Goncalo Fennura scored both the goals for CSB Stars.

After the break we had a repeat score in the second half leading to a 4-2 final score. James Alawi bagged his first goal of the day with Jose Pedro Duame and Tiago Botelho netting for the Portuguese.

Next up was HS Décor and ACE & The Swagmen. HS Décor were representing Portugal and were on debut. ACE & The Swagmen were returning to the eurofootballfives fold after making their debut at the 2012 Budapest Fives. They got off to a flyer scoring in just a matter of seconds in their opening fixture against Csabagyongye before slipping to 3-1 defeat. They were drawn a really tough group and would hope for a kinder draw in Lisbon.

Things started very brightly in Budapest for ACE & The Swagmen with the early goal. There was an early goal in this one too, also scored by ACE & The Swagmen but unfortunately this time it was scored for the opposition as an OG set HS Décor on their way (it was a fine finish by the way). To make matters more soul destroying it was the only goal in a tight first half.

With the goal advantage, in the second half, HS Décor extended their lead through goals from Rui Pina (2) and Andre Anisuosio (2). They did not have it all their own way though as James Larcombe bagged a brace at the other end. Final score, 5-2.
