We arrived at the Plate Quarter-Final stage and we would shortly see eight teams reduced to four teams. To begin it was Pass To Russ FC versus Ze'Argon. It was 3rd placed in Group A versus 4th Placed in Group B and as such you would imagine Pass To Russ FC would be the favourites given the higher league placing.

Pass To Russ FC secured 3 wins out of 5 games in the group phase and just missed out on the Cup by 1 point. They were the top scoring English team in the group phase with 14 goals scored. Ze'Argon picked up 1 win and 2 draws from their 5 group games scoring 5 goals. Both teams conceded 8 goals each.

The game went with the form book as their main marksman was the hero again. Russell Dyer had scored 11 goals so far today and he added 3 more to his tally. As things stood he was the top scorer in the tournament. There was a clean sheet for Lee Dyer in goal – his second of the day. Final score, 3-0.

Sadly, it was the end of the day for Ze'Argon – but they still had involvement in the tournament with their Argon'ze team yet to play their Cup Quarter-Final.

The second Quarter-Final saw CTMB Pumas take on Black Sheep.

CTMB Pumas emerged from Group C in third place. They had a slow start to the day with two defeats but were now on a good run of victories. In their last two fixtures they had won 3-1 and 9-0 (the biggest win of the day so far). Black Sheep came into the game with 2 wins from Group D as they finished fourth in the table.

This was the highest scoring of the Plate Quarter-Finals. It was CTMB Pumas who struck first courtesy of a goal from Ed Goggs. Tom Coulter made it 2-0 and when Tom Farrar scored for 3-0 it looked like a procession to the Semi-Finals.

Black Sheep hit back though through Asbjorn Brandt-Pedersen and Andy Hampshire. Black Sheep were back in touching distance but CTMB Pumas regained their two goal cushion as Tom Farrar scored his second of the game. Tom Farrar then claimed his hat-trick to make it 5-2.

Black Sheep reignited their comeback when Asbjorn Brandt-Pedersen and Dan Wright pulled it back to 5-4. Time was then up as CTMB Pumas progressed to the next round.

We now knew the teams to compete in the first Semi-Final. In the lower half of the Quarter-Final draw it was Jackson's Five versus Black Magic AFC.

Jackson's Five had played in 3 previous Quarter-Finals in our tournaments before and lost all 3. At the 2016 Amsterdam Fives they went out in the Cup QF (8-3 to Real BUILDers), at the 2017 Lisbon Tournament one of their teams went out in the Plate QF (4-0 to AAK S&S) and the other in the Cup QF (1-0 to Indoorsoccer).

On the field here we had a cracker of a game. Black Magic AFC lead 1-0 thanks to Alex Costello's fourth of the day. Jackson's Five were level though with a Richard Jackson equalizer. Ben Farrell put Black Magic AFC in front again before Robbie Petch levelled again. Jackson's Five moved ahead for the first time when Mauro Hernandez found the back of the net. Frank Jackson then equalized for Black Magic AFC as the game finished 3-3. A penalty shoot out would be required.

After the first two rounds of penalties we were level at 2-2. Mauro Hernandez and Robbie Petch were both on target for Jackson's Five. Gary Brinkhurst and Fred Stanley both converted for Black Magic AFC.

The teams then lost their goal-scoring touch. For Jackson's Five, Richard Jackson saw his penalty saved by John Katandika and Ben Gregory put one wide. Ben Gregory then saved from Alex Costello and Frank Jackson. The fifth round of penalties proved decisive. Mauro Hernandez scored for Jackson's Five, Gary Brinkhurst missed for Black Magic AFC. Jackson's Five had broken their Quarter-Final hoodoo.

We'd like to thank Black Magic AFC for making the trip to Barcelona. We hope you all enjoyed your tour weekend.

The final Quarter-Final saw New Wave Funk take on Dragons. New Wave Funk started the game like a runaway train with 3 wins from their first 3 games. They then had two defeats on the bounce to slip from the Cup places to the Plate places in the final round of games. Could they regain their early tournament form?

Dragons were also on a run of two defeats in a row (3-1 to CTMB Pumas, 1-0 to Expats FC Paris) after a thumping 7-0 win over Team Beefcake. Both teams needed a win to reignite their tournament. They were two wins from a European final.

It was Dragons who drew first blood. Neil Stoodley was the man to put his team ahead. New Wave Funk were not behind for long as Nick Moore's sixth goal of the tournament made it 1-1. That's how it remained until the half-time break.

After the break it was Steven Blight who regained the lead for Dragons. David Spriggs extended that lead to 3-1 as they had one foot in the next round. Alex Jones second goal of the day reduced that lead to 3-2 but time ran out on them. Dragons completed the 3-2 victory and qualified for the Plate Semi-Finals.
