Round 3 started with AC Mazi 1996 taking on Wonder Vision.

AC Mazi 1996 were strong favourites for this as they sat top of the table with 2 wins from 2 games. They were level on points with New Wave Funk but the Greek team were in first position due to goal difference. They had scored 8 goals for the concession of just 1 so far. Wonder Vision were currently in sixth position looking for their first goal and first point of the day. It would be a big ask to break those ducks in this game.

Thanasaj Laerto had scored in both of his team's games so far and he was to keep that run going here. He score the opening two goals of the game to put his team in control. Marios Ntatis had also scored in every game and he continued his run to make it 3-0. Gjeloshi Etmond then completed the victory with his first of the tournament. Final score, 4-0.

AC Mazi 1996 had just opened up a three point lead at the top of Group D with victory in the game above. New Wave Funk could close that gap and join them on 9 points if they could secure a third successive victory at the start of this tournament.

Black Sheep would be their opponents – they had won one and lost one so far. They currently occupied fourth position but could join New Wave Funk in second place if they could secure victory themselves.

This was arguably the most interesting game of Group D so far as it ebbed and flowed. It was New Wave Funk who continued their storming form at the start of this tournament. John Naldrett was yet to score today….until now. He was the man to open the scoring and give his team a 1-0 lead. He then doubled the advantage and New Wave Funk looked well on their way to win #3.

Black Sheep then staged a comeback. Asbjorn Brandt-Pedersen pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 before Jannik Friis levelled it up at 2-2. At this stage the game could have gone either way and the momentum was with the Black Sheep.

However, it would be John Naldrett and New Wave Funk who wrestled back the lead. Naldrett's hat-trick goal earned his team all three points. Full time score, 2-3.

We were now past the half-way mark in the group phase and a quick evaluation of the action across all the pitches would suggest that Group D was this year's most difficult group and could well be tagged the proverbial “Group of Death”. One of those teams who were finding life difficult were the Rain Dragons who were looking to kick-start their campaign.

Rain Dragons were up against Los Portugalitos who started off with a 2-0 loss to AC Mazi 1996 but came into this game on the back of their first win of the day. This was a 2-0 win over Wonder Vision. If they could make it 2 wins out of 2 they would move up to third place in the table. If they harboured hopes of the overall title then they had to win as the top two teams were currently 6 points ahead at the top.

With the game underway it was Tiago Nogueira who made the initial breakthrough. His goal put the Portuguese in the ascendency. Andre Cabrita extended that lead to 2-0 and Los Portugalitos had their second win secured. It was a second clean sheet for them too.
