Group B began with AFC Underworld versus Jackson's Five.

AFC Underworld were making their first appearance in eurofootballfives.com competition but Jackson's Five were experienced competitors in our events. In fact, Jackson's Five were making their second appearance of 2018. They previously appeared at the Mallorca Fives where they picked up 4 points from 3 games against the Spanish teams in their group but 0 from 6 against their fellow English. It meant they finished fourth in the table to qualify for the Plate. They played out a 7-goal thriller in the Semi-Finals with Algaiga Golf but missed out on the final, 4-3.

It looked like Jackson's Five would continue that good record against Spanish teams as it was they who took the lead. Robbie Petch, making his first Jackson's Five tour to our tournaments, was the man with the goal.

AFC Underworld hit back through Pablo Oliver to make it 1-1. Arturo Prieto then saw the Spanish go 2-1 up before Jack Foord gave them a cushion at 3-1. 3-1 is how it finished.

Group B continued with Red Light Runners versus The Funky Shepherds. On paper, this looked a little bit of a mis-match based upon previous results in our tournaments with the Irish hot favourites.

Red Light Runners record:

2008 Krakow Trophy – Winners

2008 Barca Fives – Runners Up

2016 Barcelona Fives – Cup Quarter Finals

2017 Budapest Fives – Cup Semi Finals

The Funky Shepherds record

2016 Algarve Open: 4th in Group, 5th in Plate

2017 Mallorca Tournament: 6th in Group, No knockout.

This was the worst possible fixture The Funky Shepherds would have wanted to start their campaign. At thhe start it was a green and black onslaught producin some wonder saves from Darrell Milman. Milman was becoming a popular figure amongst those watchin on. True to form Red Light Runners ran out winners ffrom the moment Stephen Doherty set them on their way. Ian Ward, Cory Gallagher (x2) and John Mooney were all on target and James O'Brien kept a clean shoot to boot.

Last but not least in Group B, it was Ze'Argon (Fra) versus Rubidium Loftus Cheek (Eng). The story of the morning for Rubidium Loftus Cheek was that they were down to the bare bones before we started. There was one player missing due to a cancelled flight on Friday evening and one player injured who would compete in goal. Rubidium Loftus Cheek were up against it without a ball being kicked.

Ze'Argon were the sister squad of Argon'ze who were playing in Group A. The group had been involved in our Barcelona tournaments since 2016. This was the third time they had competed with a second Ze'Argon after doing so at the 2017 Mallorca Fives and the 2017 Barcelona Fives last year.

Ze'Argon opened the scoring with Cedric Birkeland scoring his team's first goal of the day. Fraser Harker would score his team's first goal in eurofootballfives.com competition when he equalized for Rubidium Loftus Cheek.

At full-time, it was honours even at 1-1. Only time would tell if this was 1 point gained or two points dropped.
