It was sixth versus fourth at the start of Round 3 as The Funky Shepherds would meet Ze'Argon. The Funky Shepherds had lost 5-0 and 3-0 but there was a good argument to suggest they had played the two toughest teams in the group. Ze'Argon had 1 point from their two games.

If we are looking for a clue as to the destination of the points in this one then we could look at how each team fared against Red Light Runners. The Funky Shepherds lost 5-0 whereas Ze'Argon ‘only' lost 4-1. Could that make the French favourites?

With the game underway it was in fact the team from Paris who took the lead. Cedric Birkeland scored his second and his team's third goal of the tournament. 1-0 became 2-0 as Bertrand Desmottes opened his personal account as Ze'Argon had a two goal cushion over their English opponents.

Ze'Argon were also tight at the back and kept a clean sheet for the first time today. Full time result, 0-2.

Up next in Group B was AFC Underworld versus Rubidium Loftus Cheek. At the end of Round 2, AFC Underworld were joint top on 6 points but currently sat in second place on goal difference. At the same time, Rubidium Loftus Cheek currently occupied fifth position with 1 point from their two games. Morale may have been low after a 6-1 defeat last time out.

AFC Underworld broke the deadlock with Pablo Oliver scoring for the third consecutive game. Ethan Low made it 2-0 before Pablo Oliver completed his hat-trick as the Spanish extended their lead to 4-0.

The way AFC Underworld and Red Light Runners were playing, it meant goal difference could be crucial to determine the Group B winners. AFC Underworld were boosting their goal difference as Ethan Low made it 5-0, Arturo Prieto made it 6-0 and Ethan Low completed his team's second hat-trick of the game to make it 7-0.

This was energy sapping stuff for Rubidium Loftus Cheek who had no subs to rotate those tired lungs and limbs.

To complete Round 3 we had Jackson's Five versus Red Light Runners. Jackson's Five came into the game on the back of a fine 6-1 win and would need to be at their best to take anything from this fixture. Red Light Runners record in the group phase of our tournaments was nothing short of phenomenal.

Before today, it read:

2008 Krakow Trophy:     3   3-0-0   17-7   9    (1st)

2008 Barca Fives:          4   4-0-0   26-2   12  (1st)

2016 Barcelona Fives:  7   7-0-0    17-2   21  (1st)

2017 Barcelona Fives:  5   4-1-0    14-1   13  (1st)

Overall:                           19  18-1-0  74-12 55

As you can see, just the one draw to spoil a 100% record in 21 games (if you add the 2 wins so far today. That was the size of the task facing Jackson's Five!

Red Light Runner continued their fine form with a Cory Gallagher establishing a 2-0 lead. He was scoring at 2 goals per game. Ian Ward made it 3-0 before Declan Doherty made it 4-0. Declan Doherty was the second top scorer at both the 2008 Krakow Trophy and 2008 Barca Fives – he was up and running today in 2018.

Red Light Runners didn't seem to need much help but they got it with the aid of own goal which made it 5-0. Jackson's Five put a fly in the ointment at the end and spoiled James O'Brien's clean sheet as Will Sambrook notched his fifth goal of the day. It finished 5-1 to the Irish team.
