Round 5 was the last chance for the teams in Group C to stake their claim for their chosen goals. Bafta Boys were first up with a chance to win the Group if they could claim victory and other results went their way. There was a feeling that goal difference could well be a feature and Bafta Boys were on the victory trail and the goal trail.

They would meet Bede FC who were looking for their first points and they would need a mighty effort to get some points and see if they could jump from the Wooden Spoon position to the Plate qualification positions. They had worked so hard with a depleted squad and to lose their last two games by the odd goal (to a last minute strike and a wonder goal) must have been a disheartening pill to swallow.

Bafta Boys opened the scoring through John Douglas and then Joe Bardwell made it 2-0 for a good half-time lead. They were merciless in the second half was Tom Lambourne made it 3-0, then 4-0 and Joe Bardwell was back in on the act for 5-0. Pete Talbot opened his personal account for 5-0 before Bardwell completed his hat-trick for 7-0. It was the biggest win of the tournament.

Bede FC were sure to be in the Wooden Spoon playoff and Bafta Boys had assured qualification for the Cup but would it be enough for the Group C title?

The two teams that could overhaul Bafta Boys were Sao Pedro and Parry St Germain. Sao Pedro only needed a draw to qualify for the Cup but they could win the Group C title with a victory. Parry St Gemain were currently on 8 points with 2 wins and 2 draws and, due to results elsewhere, knew only a win would be good enough to secure Cup qualification. They could also deprive Bafta Boys of the Group C title but would have to match Bafta Boys 7-goal win.

We reached half-time at 0-0 and were no closer to knowing who would win Group C. If it stayed this way Bafta Boys would be champions. In the second half it became clear that Sao Pedro's ambitions were to secure Cup qualification rather than to win Group C. Parry St Germain had to win and were becoming increasingly frustrated by their opponents. In the end, time ran out on Parry St Germain and the game finished 0-0.

Bafta Boys were crowned Group C champions, Sao Pedro would join them in the Cup competition and Parry St Germain would go into the Plate competition….where an interesting draw would await them….

All that was left to wrap up Group C was Sapadores versus Chateau Bravado Old Boys. The two teams had a free pass effectively as they could enjoy the game without qualification worries as both teams knew they would be in the Plate competition. The game was not without importance though as there was pride at stake, the chance to finish 4th and the potentially easier draw in the next phase of this tournament.

Chateau Bravado Old Boys had just enjoyed a quality draw and their upturn in results continued into this game. They took the lead in the opening period through Curtis Buck's second goal of the tournament. After the break they doubled their lead through Ian Blades 4th goal of the tournament. The 2-0 victory meant that Chateau Bravado Old Boys started and ended Group C with a win – just in time for the knock-out phase.
