With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament. First up was Let Us Win or Elsie against CFC. Both teams had started well with CFC claiming victory and Let Us Win or Elsie grabbing a very good point against one of the pre-tournament favourites.

In this game it was CFC who struck first as Marc Auzon found the back of the net for the French team. Could Let Us Win or Elsie respond? They could with a fine sweeping move into the CFC penalty area that was rounded off with a sliding finish. The English team were celebrating but the French team were claiming the ball went out of play in the build-up on the far touchline (a view that watching West Central FC on that side seemed to concur with).

We had no way of telling from our position behind Pitch B but the referee appeared to give the goal at first and then change his mind and award the throw in. We still don't know if the ball was in or out but the goal was disallowed and it stayed 1-0. That's how it remained and CFC had two wins out of two. Let Us Win or Elsie only had 1 point to show for their considerable efforts and they arguably deserved more for their two displays thus far.

Sergio Cristina were the leaders of the embryonic Group A table and to stay there they had a tough test to pass against FC Radbroke. The English team in Marseille kits had rescued a point from a losing position in Round 1 and by their own admissions had started slowly in this tournament. Could they kick on from that opening point?

The early signs were good for FC Radbroke and they took the lead through Mike Brandon's second goal in as many games in the opening period. They held a 1-0 lead until half-time. Sergio Cristina's task to get something out of the game got even more difficult in the second period when Mike Brandon took his tournament goal tally from #2 to #3 when he made it 2-0.

There was no way back for Sergio Cristina and FC Radbroke had their first win of the day and moved into 2nd place.

To complete Round 2 we had Hangover 96 versus West Central FC. Both teams had suffered opening game defeat and both teams would want to bounce back straight away to kickstart their 2013 Algarve Open challenge.

Goals were conspicuous by their absence in the first half and the two teams reached the interval all square at 0-0. The game was to bear witness to a goal and when it arrived it came from Rajan Johal whose goal claimed all 3 points for West Central FC and earned them their first win in Europe. Their campaign was up and running, they had 3 points, were in mid-table and could kick on from here.

The defeat left Hangover 96 in 6th position but with 3 games to go in Group A all was not lost.
