Group B began with United Colours of Benetton from Holland taking on Galacticos of England. United Colours of Benetton were on debut so this was our first chance to see their footballing credentials.

Galacticos were returning to eurofootballfives.com action after a little break since the 2010 Valencia Fives. They made their debut at the 2009 Barca Fives where they won Group A. In the Cup knock-out stage they defeated defending champions Rapid Bosco Navas in the Quarter-Finals before going out to two-times eurofootballfives.com winners Goldsmith Williams in the Semi-Finals. They were equally as impressive in the 2010 Valencia Fives where, in the group of death, they finished 2 nd to Futbol City. The same opposition prevented them taking all the glory as they met again in the Cup Final with the Spanish winning 5-1. Can Galacticos go one step further and lift the title in Portugal?

They started like the proverbial house on fire and quickly raced into a 3-0 lead by half-time. Yaaseen Patel got the ball rolling before Zuber Bulbulia made it 2-0 and Atiq Akhtar made it 3-0.

United Colours of Benetton improved after the break and the game was a more even contest but the damage was done in the first half.

Next up was Water Boy of Portugal against FC Hollywood of England who both played last year and both went out to the same opposition.

Water Boy (also played as Aguas do Algarve) drew a tough group in the 2011 Algarve Open which included Dutch side Athletico Do Hollande and it was a credit to them to finish 2nd . A 1-0 Cup Quarter-Final followed before losing in the Semi-Finals 5-1 to Cheesecake FC. In 2012, they proved just as strong winning their group which featured 2011 Krakow Trophy winners, Apsley House. In the Cup Quarter-Finals they endured a tough 0-0 versus Parry St Germain emerging victorious 3-2 on penalties. They then went out in the Cup Semi-Finals again, 4-0 to the eventual champions ManDem United.

FC Hollywood made their eurofootballfives.com debut 12 months ago in the Algarve Open and return to Portugal for a second crack at the title. They finished 2 nd behind the 2012 Valencia Fives champtions, FC Miracle of Hungary, in their group. In the Cup Quarter-Final they pushed eventual winners, ManDem United, closer than anyone but went out 4-2. We expect a strong challenge this year.

There was only one goal in this opening game and it went to Terry Lowe of FC Hollywood who gave his side the perfect start to the tournament.

Game 3 of Group B was Norton Old Boys versus Ecclesfield Eagles. In a very tough 2012 Mallorca Tournament Norton Old Boys third eurofootballfives.com appearance was a hugely successful one as they took an impressive victory in the Plate competition. They also played in the 2010 Barcelona Fives and missed out on the knock-out phase. 12 months later, in the 2011 Prague Masters, they picked up their first eurofootballfives victory and qualified for the Plate before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Czech team Fridays.

Ecclesfield Eagles were on debut but were making an early name for themselves in Group B by racing into a 2-0 lead thanks to Lewis Allen and the assistance of a Stuart Crane own goal. Norton Hill Old Boys came into the game on the back of an unbeaten 5 game record (including 4 wins) in Europe dating back to the 2012 Mallorca Tournament. This record was seriously under threat but looked slightly better when Rich Hassan reduced arrears to 2-1.

Matt Hibberd restored Ecclesfield Eagles two goal lead and at 3-1 the points looked assured. Mark Paget (8 goals in 2012 Mallorca Tournament) continued last year's European form by reducing the deficit to 3-2 nut time ran out for Norton Old Boys as Ecclesfield Eagles completed the 3-2 win.
