United Colours of Benetton were back in action against Ecclesfield Eagles at the start of Round 3. The Dutch team started slowly in Round 1, improved in Round 2 and were unlucky not to take any points from that game. In Round 3 they had the unenviable task of facing the league leaders to break their points duck.

Ecclesfield Eagles had settled into eurofootballfives.com action in fine style with two wins out of two. If they could maintain their 100% record they would be in a very healthy position in Group B. We reached the break level at 0-0 with a draw not being of massive benefit to either side (although clearly more welcome than defeat).

The game would not finish 0-0 though as a Ryan Mitchell goal for Ecclesfield Eagles edged it. It was not 3 wins out of 3 for the Eagles and everything looked good for them at this juncture. United Colours of Benetton would walk away from the game empty handed again.

The other team on 6 points was in action next as FC Hollywood took on Norton Old Boys. FC Hollywood needed another victory to keep pace with Ecclesfield Eagles. If they could manage it those two teams would open up a 6 point lead over the chasing pack (admittedly Galacticos and Water Boy would have a game in hand).

It didn't start well for FC Hollywood as captain Dave Thomas put Norton Hill Old Boys 1-0 up and they were to hold that lead until half-time. FC Hollywood had been here before though as they were losing to United Colours of Benetton in Round 2 before winning 2-1. They were on the comeback trail again when Matty Clarke equalized.

FC Hollywood completed their second comeback in as many games when Terry Lowe put them ahead 2-1. It was Terry Lowe's third goal in as many games and proved to be the winner. FC Hollywood did indeed claim victory number 3 and joined Ecclesfield Eagles on 9 points.

It was close but no cigar for Norton Hill Old Boys – this was becoming a familiar story for them as they had now lost all three games by the odd goal.

The top two teams were getting away from the chasing pack but Galacticos and Water Boy would look to close the gap. A win for either would see the victor move onto 6 points and keep pace. Ecclesfield Eagles and FC Hollywood would be hoping for a draw that would give them a 5 point margin going into Round 4.

At half-time the teams at the top looked like they were going to get their own way as they were level at 0-0. Yaaseen Patel then struck for Galacticos and it was a vital goal. Water Boy tried hard to get back into this game but the longer the game went on 1-0 the more their chances of reaching the Cup looked forlorn. Water Boy had never failed to qualify for the Cup but this proud record could well be in danger.

As the sands of time were running out the score remained at 1-0 but in the dying embers of the game we were to get another goal. It was Atiq Akhtar for Galacticos who put the game to bed and the match was all over, 2-0.
