Through no fault on their own controversy had followed Let Us Win or Elsie in their opening two games. They would hope there would be no more controversy and bad luck to befall them in their 3rd group game against Sergio Cristina.

Sergio Cristina had started brightly with 3 points but just tasted defeat so it would be interesting to see how they responded. The game proved to be evenly contested and there was not a great deal between the two sides. Defences were on top and we reached the break level at 0-0.

After the re-start it was the Portuguese who forged ahead through Telmo Silva's fourth goal of the tournament and he was emerging as an early candidate for the golden boot award. The bad luck then continued for Let Us Win or Elsie – there was no controversy this time but bad luck nevertheless as Matt Horne scored an unfortunate own goal to make it 2-0 to Sergio Cristina and the points were going to Portugal.

Top played bottom in the next fixture as CFC met Hangover 96. The form book would suggest this would be a home win…..and the form book was correct.

The French team had ground out two narrow 1-0 victories so far but they were more expansive this game and got their shooting boots on. Goals were shared around the team with three in the first half and two in the second half to complete a 5-0 win – the second biggest win in the tournament. There were goals for Ilan Shlesinger, Quentin Goues, Matthias Najjar and two for Marc Auzon (3 for the tournament now for him).

The win consolidated their position at the top of Group A and they maintained their 100% record with the maximum 9 points.

The two results above meant that it was 3 rd placed FC Radbroke against 4th placed West Central in the final fixture of Round 3. For the winner there was a chance to join the French and Portuguese teams in the top half and keep their hopes alive for Cup qualification. A defeat would make this objective pretty difficult.

Both teams came into the game on the back of a victory and both teams played with confidence in the early stages. The first goal of the game changed that as Mike Brandon's 4th of the tournament dented the hopes of West Central FC.

FC Radbroke were putting that slow start behind them and growing into this tournament and seemingly improving with every game. In the second half there were additional strikes from Pete Armstrong and Mike Brandon again to seal a 3-0 win. Brandon had kept up his goal-a-game record and led the goalscoring charts with 5 goals to his name. FC Radbroke moved into 2nd position.
