We were down to our final 4 teams in the Plate competition. The first Semi-Final would see The Shirker's Rest versus Moles Salah B. The Shirker's Rest had plenty of Plate experience over the years including winning the Plate competition at the 2020 Warsaw Tournament. They had gone out at the Quarter-Final stage 3 times (2011 Prague Masters, 2017 Mallorca Fives & 2018 Gdansk Tournament). There were also two Semi-Final exits which were curiously both against their sister squad, FC Maroon, at the 2021 Barcelona Fives and 2023 Amsterdam Sixes.

When The Shirker's Rest played Moles Salah A in the group phase they'd won 2-1. In theory, as they'd beaten the A team they should be able to beat the B team but things don't always work out like that. Moles Salah B had been the more free-scoring of the two Moles Salah teams so far today and their prowess in front of goal continued into this match as they made the initial breakthrough courtesy of a George Harnett strike.

Moles Salah were bidding to reach a second eurofootballfives.com final having reached the Trophy Final at the 2022 Lisbon Tournament. They strengthened their position with Henry Myers 5 th goal of the day. 2-0 became 3-0 with Harnett's second of the game and fourth of the competition.

It looked like the game was over but Luke Burnett gave The Shirker's Rest renewed hope to reduce the lead to 3-1. Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished when Goerge Trotter completed the scoring at 4-1. Moles Salah B were through to a second European final in 3 attempts.

The second Plate Semi-Final was Fylde FC Old Boys versus Mitre FC B.

Mitre FC had enjoyed success at Plate level at the 2023 Barcelona Fives. Their A team had embarked on a winning run that saw them defeat Mardons FC (4-1), RSC Andylecht (1-0) and John Arne Riise's Pieces (3-1). The B team however did go out at the QF stage to John Arne Riise's Pieces (1-0).

Fylde FC Old Boys would no doubt start favourites as they only missed out on Cup qualification by a point. Interestingly it was Mite FC A they were only a point behind although they did lose 5-0 when they met head-to-head. Could they get their revenge against the B team?

Fylde FC Old Boys were helped on their way with the aid of an own goal. They didn't need much help though as they had Nathaniel Smithies in their line-up who'd already scored five today. He extended the Fylde lead to 2-0 and then to 3-0.

At 3-0 the result looked beyond doubt but Ramzy Elftesi rubber-stamped the victory with a goal to ensure that his team would storm into the Plate Final. It would be the second time they would reach a Plate Final having already done so, on debut, at the 2017 Krakow Trophy.
