Welcome
to Czechia for the 13th edition of our Prague
Fives football tournament. We had 26 teams (12
in the Open Age section, 14 in the Veterans section)
from CIS, Czechia, England, France, Korea, Moldova,
Poland and Spain all assembled in the hunt for
success.
The
picturesque city of Prague, the vibrant heart
of Europe, set the stage for an exhilarating day
of football under the radiant summer sun. The
players assembled in the suburb of Satalice eager
to showcase their skills, passion, and sportsmanship
in a spirited celebration of the beautiful game.
The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as the
warm, golden rays illuminated our home for the
next 8 hours of action. Everyone was prepared
for a day filled with thrilling matches, camaraderie,
and the joy that only football can bring all washed
down with some cold golden beers as the events
unfolded.
We
began on Pitch A with two teams familiar to followers
of eurofootballfives.com as Fylde FC Old Boys
and Spider Mans & Eagle took to the field.
They had a huge 17 previous appearances in our
events between them but both were appearing in
Prague for the first time. We will preview both
teams in more detail as we progress with this
report.
On
the pitch, in the here and now, it was Fylde FC
Old Boys who drew first blood. Nathaniel Smithies
opened their account on the day and he was soon
to make it 2-0. Despite their extensive CVs with
us these two teams had never met in our events.
It was a glorious first meeting for Fylde FC Old
Boys as Liam Errington scored to complete a fine
3-0 victory.

The
2024 Prague Fives was to be decided on a group
basis with two groups each containing 6 teams.
The teams finishing 1st and 2nd in each group
would progress to the Cup competition. The teams
finishing 3rd and 4th in each group would progress
to the Plate competition. The team finishing 5th
and 6th in each group would be eliminated.
The
final fixture in the opening round of Group A
was FCRK versus Moles Salah B. In competing at
the Prague Tournament, FCRK became the first team
to represent the Republic of Korea at our events.
It meant that Korea was the 45th nation to be
represented at our events. They follow on from
Finland (37th), USA (38th), Tunisia (39th), Saudi
Arabia (40th) Moldova (41st), Luxembourg (42nd),
China (43rd) and Australia (44th). We wish FCRK
and the Republic of Korea a warm welcome to our
events.
FCRK's
opponents in the first round of fixtures had experience
in our events having placed twice before in 2022
& 2023. Moles Salah B put that experience
to good use as they forged ahead through Henry
Myers. 1-0 became 2-0 as Jack Barr extended the
lead before 2-0 became 3-0 when Barr bagged his
second of the game. It was a baptism of fire for
FCRK but the perfect start for Moles Salah B.
