The first final of the day in the Open Age section would see Fylde Old Boys FC versus Moles Salah B. With six games of football already under their belt the two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be collecting winners medals and not runners-up medals in the presentation.

Let's have a look at the two teams' credentials for the Plate title:

Fylde FC Old Boys (Eng)

Previous best: 2017 Krakow Trophy Plate Runners-Up, Cup Quarter-Finals x2.

Record today: Played 6, Won 4, Drawn 0, Lost 2.

Goal difference today: 16-11

Current unbeaten run: 1 games.

Today's top goalscorer: Nathaniel Smithies (7)

Clean sheets: 2

Moles Salah B (Eng)

Previous best: 2022 Lisbon Tournament Trophy Runners-Up, 2023 Krakow Trophy Plate SF.

Record today: Played 6, Won 3, Drawn 1, Lost 2.

Goal difference today: 19-15

Current unbeaten run: 2 games.

Today's top goalscorer: Jack Barr (8)

Clean sheets: 1

Both of these teams had played in a European final in our competitions before. At the 2017 Krakow Trophy, Fylde met Dedding Sea Eagles in the final and they couldn't have come much closer to glory – losing 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time. At the 2022 Lisbon Tournament, Moles Salah reached the Trophy Final and lost 2-1 to Skidmarks. A better result than it may initially look as Skidmarks have won 3 Cup titles at our events (Valencia 2011, Krakow 2012 & Budapest 2019). One of these teams would be collecting a winners trophy for the first time at this afternoon's presentation.

There was a bit of symmetry to this game as these two sides played earlier in the day. When they met earlier it was Fylde FC Old Boys emerged victorious 4-2 but a lot of football had been played since then.

The stage was set, let's get the action underway. It was first blood to Fylde FC Old Boys as Ramzy Elftesi applied the finish for his second goal of the tournament. He was without a goal in the group phase but had now scored in the Semi-Final and Final – a captain's performance. Nathaniel Smithies was Fylde's top scorer today with 7 goals and he was soon to take that tally to 8. Fylde FC Old Boys were 2-0 up and looking good.

Nathaniel Smithies extended his team's lead to 3-0 and they had one hand on the trophy. He went on to complete his hat-trick and take his tournament haul into double figures as Fylde FC Old Boys went 4-0 up. There was a late rally from Moles Salah B with Henry Myers and Ben Soden both finding the net. The game finished 4-2, just as it had done so in the group phase earlier on.

First of all we offer our consolations to Moles Salah B on a fine campaign – as always it was great to see them on tour. They had drawn the toughest group and had reached another European final. It was now two sets of runners-up medals and maybe third time lucky to be on the winning side next time out.

Huge congratulations go to our 2024 Prague Fives Plate champions though – Fylde FC Old Boys. It was an outstanding victory and was testament to the brilliant levels of performance, hard work on the pitch and dedication to Europe success that had been on the cards since that 2017 debut. Long may those celebrations last into the night and there was no better destination than Prague to celebrate that success!
