Round 3 started with Maruru (Spa) versus Eltham International (Eng). The 2018 champions had struggled in terms of results at the start of Group C and they were still looking for their first goal of the tournament.

The two defeats represented their worst start to a tournament. Before today, in the group phase they had been unbeaten 13 wins and 3 draws with a goal difference of 48-8. Despite the 2 defeats this morning, Eltham International should be under no illusion that they were up against top opposition.

Sometimes all it takes is a goal to turn a bad run of form into a good one and spark that level of confidence that ignites a team's campaign. That appeared to happen here with Diego Plata breaking Maruru's duck. 1-0 became 2-0 with Plata on target again. Xisco Masegosa added a third goal and it looked like Maruru were on their way to all 3 points.

The margin of victory was perhaps a little surprising as Eltham International had come into this game on the back of a fine 2-0 win last time out. They did manage to reduce the deficit to 3-1 with Lee Dilley's second goal in as many games. Alas for Dilley and his team, the goal ultimately proved to be a mere consolation. Final score, 3-1.

In a critical encounter at the halfway stage of the group phase, Sutton on Tour and Dumpling CF battled to a 1-1 draw, a result that had significant implications for their positions in the standings of the 2024 Mallorca Fives.

Both teams came into their third match looking to bounce back from previous defeats, with Sutton on Tour sitting in 5th place with 1 point and Dumpling CF in 4th place with 3 points.

The match was played with high intensity as both sides were eager to secure a much-needed victory. Dumpling CF struck first, gaining the upper hand when Oliver Roberts found the back of the net. His well-placed shot gave Dumpling CF a vital lead. However, Sutton on Tour refused to be demoralised and continued to press for an equalizer.

The turning point came in an extraordinary fashion. Sutton on Tour's goalkeeper, Anton Povstyan, struck a sensational shot from the halfway line. The ball soared over the opposition goalkeeper and nestled into the net to level the score at 1-1. It was a moment of brilliance demonstrating the unpredictable nature of the beautiful game.

Despite both teams pushing for a winning goal, the match ended in a stalemate. The point each had polarizing effects on the teams' positions in the table. The result saw Dumpling CF climb to 3rd place in the group whilst Sutton on Tour, despite their spirited performance, dropped to 6th place, making their path to qualification increasingly difficult.

The final game of Round 3 was a top of the table clash between RAF and Team Rock. Team Rock had taken to eurofootballfives.com competition like a duck to water with a 100% record and still yet to concede a goal. RAF would arguably be their toughest challenge to date.

RAF won the 2015 Algarve Open (playing as Futeboladas) but had been unable to win a second title despite coming very close. In the last 2 years alone they had a runners-up finish at the 2022 Lisbon Tournament and then three consecutive Cup Semi-Final defeats (2022 Amsterdam Sixes, 2023 Lisbon Tournament, 2023 Krakow Trophy). Today they had 4 points from 6 and a win here would see them climb above their opponents and gain top spot.

It was Team Rock who broke the deadlock in this one with Gorker Teyander scoring for the second game in a row. In Round 1, Chiqui scored the second goal in a 2-0 win. In Round 2, Chiqui scored the fourth goal in a 4-0 win. His run of scoring the final goal in a victory continued here as he scored the second goal in a 2-0 win.

Team Rock were flying with 3 wins out of 3 and this was a vital win against their closest rivals. It meant they had a huge 5 point lead at the top of Group C.
