Group B began with AFC Blue Boys versus CBT FC. This was a match up between two teams who had both competed at the 2022 Barcelona Fives.

AFC Blue Boys were unbeaten in the group phase on that occasion taking 13 points from a possible 15. They chalked up wins against Argon'ze of France (2-1), TBC FC (3-1), W London (1-0) and most impressively 4-1 against the defending champions, Club Esportiu Llefia. Only a 0-0 draw against Toe Punters prevented their 100% record. In the Quarter-Finals they drew 1-1 with 2008 champions Rapid Bosco Navas eventually winning on penalties. The Semi-Finals saw them miss out on the Cup Final as they went down 2-1 to FC Yol.

CBT FC had two squads that day with CBT finishing 5 th in Group A to qualify for the Plate and they drew the toughest possible Quarter-Final against Club Esportiu Llefia. The Spanish were 2015 & 2021 Cup winners and dismissed CBT FC, 2-1. They had a second squad called TBC FC. They just missed out on a place in the Cup with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. They went through to the Plate Quarter-Finals and lost to eventual winners Polonia Limerick (4-0).

The two teams met directly with AFC Blue Boys defeating TBC FC 3-1 and AFC Blue Boys were probably favourites here based on history in our competitions. The game proved to be very close with little between the two teams. In the end there was just the one goal in it with Jaroslaw Skowronski proving to be the match-winner. AFC Blue Boys 1-0 CBT FC.

Next up was RAF Fylingdales of England against Average Joes of Australia.

In competing at the 2024 Mallorca Fives, Average Joes became the first team to represent Australia at our events. It meant that Australia was the 44th nation to be represented at our events. They follow on from Finland (37th), USA (38th), Tunisia (39th), Saudi Arabia (40th) Moldova (41st), Luxembourg (42nd) and China (43rd). We wish Average Joes and Australia a warm welcome to our events.

RAF Fylingdales were experienced in our events with this being their 6th appearance – we'll preview them in more detail in due course. It was the newcomers Average Joes who struck first with Darcey Den Ouden going down in the record books as their first player to score in Europe. RAF Fylingdales were not to be beaten though and they struck back to level it up at 1-1. Shaun Miller was the man on target.

The third goal in the match would prove decisive. It was Olly Daly who was on target as Average Joes won the game 2-1. It meant Average Joes won the first “Ashes” battle in eurofootballfives.com competition.

Game 3 of Group B saw Wentworth Arms Athletic taking on Corner Bar. Wentworth Arms Athletic had seen their sister Royals squad open up with a 1-1 draw. Could Athletic go one better?

Corner Bar were appearing for the second time at the Mallorca Fives albeit with a new name. 12 months ago they made their debut as Riptide and it was an impressive performance. They won Group A on goal difference having picked up 2 wins and 2 draws from their campaign. It was a steady start with a 0-0 against FC Tpaktop and 1-1 versus Santander FC. They then secured their first wins, both 3-0, against AFC Blue Boys and Gosham Rangers. In the Cup Semi-Finals they met Polish opposition for the second time in the form of Polonia Limerick. In a closely fought contest they bowed out 1-0 and exited the tournament in what was their first defeat of the day.

It was Wentworth Arms who opened the scoring herewith Stef Antoci on target but Corner Bar were soon level with a goal from Ruben Martinez. The English team re-established their lead via Liam O'Connell and then had a two goal cushion when Stef Antoci bagged his second of the game. The match finished 3-1.

It was a fantastic result for Wentworth Arms Athletic especially when you consider that was Corner Bar's first group stage defeat in our events.
