CBT
FC were next up on Campo B as they took on RAF
Fylingdales. These two teams were both looking
to get off the mark in terms of points in Group
B.
RAF
Fylingdales were competing in our Mallorca Fives
tournament for the first time having competed
at our Barcelona Fives event on 3 occasions
plus tours to Riga and Gdansk. Their most recent
appearance was at the 2019 edition of the Barcelona
Fives tournament. They opened up against the
2012 champions (Black Sheep) and lost 3-0. A
narrow 2-1 defeat followed to Paralytic Athletic
U23s before a 6-0 loss to Patagonia. They then
got their first win on the board with a 1-0
victory over PVDC Eindhoven. They couldn't end
the group on a high as Latvia's FK Aliance saw
them off 7-2. RAF Fylingdales finished 6 th
in the table and qualified for the Trophy knockout
phase. A 5-2 defeat to Cranwell saw them exit
at the QF stage. However, their best performance
to date was Gdansk 2018 when they qualified
for the Cup competition and reached the Quarter-Finals.
Today
it had been two 2-1 defeats for RAF Fylingdales.
In both of those games they had fallen behind
but in this match they opened the scoring thanks
to captain Andrew Ford. Unfortunately for them,
scoring first didn't change their fortunes as
they fell to a third successive 2-1 defeat.
From
a CBT perspective it was a great turnaround.
James Field scored the equaliser before Will
Downing put them ahead. They went on to complete
the victory which saw them rise to 4th place
in the table.
