With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament.

The Yol were returning to eurofootballfives.com action after coming so close to a winning debut at the 2022 Barcelona Fives. It was a tough start as they lost 3-1 to EMC French Nuts (Fra) but got revenge on their second French opponents' Argonze A with a comprehensive 5-0 win. Success continued with a 3-0 win over CBT FC and 3-1 win over RAF Boulmer. They played the league leaders, Sharks, in the final game and secured a 0-0 draw which saw them qualify for the Cup as one of the best third placed finishers. In the Cup QF they drew Sharks and this time beat them 2-1 in a fantastic victory. The Semi-Finals saw a 2-1 win over AFC Blue Boys. No-one had finished third in the group and gone on to win a title since Rapid Bosco Navas at the 2008 Barcelona Fives but FC Yol came so close. They lost out 2-1 to Norfolk N Chance and will be a team to watch in Mallorca.

They did, however, lose their first game today to Deportivo Dooradoyle (3-1). They had the opportunity to hit back against Sheffield Thursday who took a point from their first game. The Yol struck first in Round 1 and they hit the front again here with Cash Radford scoring the goal.

Early The Yol promise turned to defeat last time out and this was to prove the case again as Sheffield Thursday turned the game around in this one. Nathan Thompson equalized before Daniel Easton put the team from Fleet 2-1 up. Tiarnan Power extended that lead to 3-1. Daniel Easton then scored his second of the game to complete a fine 4-1 victory.

Next up on Pitch B was W London versus Deportivo Dooradoyle.

W London debuted at the 2022 Barcelona Fives and impressed in the group phase finishing second of six teams on 11 points. They defeated Toe Punters 2-0 and Argon'ze B 4-0 to get off to the perfect start. Their winning run was ended by CE Llefia 0-0 but a draw against the 2015 and 2021 champions was nothing to be ashamed of. They lost 1-0 to group winners AFC Blue Boys (Pol) before ending the group stage on a high with a closely fought 2-1 win over TBC FC. Their tilt at glory was ended at the Cup Quarter-Final stage with a narrow 2-1 loss to the eventual champions, Norfolk N Chance.

W London lost their first game 8-2 but it was tough to draw any conclusions on their form today given the stature of their opposition in that game. From a 10-goal thriller this was a much tighter affair with just the 1 goal to separate the two teams. That goal was scored by Malek Mansour – his second goal in as many games – and it gave his team all 3 points.

To complete Round 2 we had Equador 100% versus Wentworth Arms Royals. The former had got off to a flyer with an 8-2 win whilst the latter had opened up with a steady 1-1 draw.

If Wentworth Arms Royals had watched Ecuador 100%'s first game they may have had nightmares coming into this fixture. They would have feared the worst and those fears were not unfounded as Ecuador 100% continued where they left off last time out.

Dilan Calderon opened the scoring for the three-times champions and they never looked back. Goxi Gonzalez scored four in the first game and he added another couple here to make it 3-0. Dilan Calderon added his second of the game for 4-0. Ivan Mora opened his personal account to extend the lead to 5-0 before Matheu Paz hit a sixth. They were not done yet – Paz and Mora each added their second of the game to finish the game at 8-0.

Ecuador 100% has played 2, won 2 and scored 16 goals in this process. It was hard not to see them going all the way to the title…but it was still early days.
