Tinniedad & Tobacco (Eng)

 

After 59 games of football we came down to the most important of them all. Game 60 – The 2016 Krakow Trophy Cup Final. The two teams set to do battle for the honour and glory of victory were Spider Mans & Eagle versus Tinniedad & Tobacco.

 

We had the two top goal-scoring teams in the tournament and at the time of kick-off Spider Mans & Eagle had the best defence in the tournament so perhaps it was fitting we had these two teams contesting the ultimate prize.

 

We witnessed a very close opening period and when the first real chance came it fell to the top goalscorer-elect Jon McKinley who placed the ball just wide of the far post. A Tinniedad & Tobacco free-kick routine came close before Spider Mans & Eagle had their first sight of goal when Nick McIntosh fired over when under pressure and on the stretch.

 

There were then two big moments – the first was when Marek Mikolaj of GSF Drunkerz streaked across the pitch. The second was the first goal of the Cup Final when Oliver Jackson's second of the tournament provided Tinniedad & Tobacco with the crucial first goal.

 

How would Spider Mans & Eagle respond? Pretty well is the answer. Richard Eggleston galloped down the right and squared it into the middle for Nick McIntosh to strike but he saw his effort cannon back off the cross-bar. Then not long after Ryan Stevens strode through the Tinnidad & Tobacco defense, the ball broke to Nick McIntosh who fired into the top corner for 1-1. That was to be the half-time score.

 
 
 

At the start of the second half, Tinniedad & Tobacco had a free-kick on the edge of the box. McKinley laid it off to Wilkes who had his shot saved but Will Boulton turned in the rebound for 2-1. Moments later there was a great turn on the left by McKinley squared it across the box to Michael Wilkes who fired home off the inside of the post. Shortly after Michael Wilkes found himself free on the right and he rifled his shot into the far top corner. In only a few minutes at the start of the second half Tinniedad & Tobacco had blitzed their opposition and, at 4-1, were surely on their way to glory.

 

If there was any doubt, Will Boulton's second of the Cup Final made it 5-1 when he slotted home at the far post. McKinley then unselfishly put in Wilkes for a potential hat-trick but he saw his shot saved.

 

The last word of the Cup Final would go to Spider Mans & Eagle who won a penalty via a handball in the area. Nick McIntosh stepped up to slot home his 10th goal of the tournament. It was a sublime penalty curling just inside the right post. It was to be the last kick of the game.

 

We offer our consolations to Spider Mans & Eagle who were superb on the day and a top quality side. They had reached a Cup Semi-Final in Budapest, a Cup Final in Krakow and we are sure there is a victory for them in the future.

 

Our congratulations for the personal honours go to Jon McKinley of Tinniedad & Tobacco with 14 goals.

 

We offer massive congratulations to Tinniedad & Tobacco who had unfinished business after the 2014 Barcelona Fives and 2015 Berlin Fives. They certainly completed that business in style today and it could very well be the first of many successes.
