Budapest Celtic Tigers were currently joint top of Group C with two wins from two games. Their next opposition was Vamos who had just picked up their first victory of the day. These two teams were kindred spirits in the sense that both had reached Cup Finals in the past and ended up empty handed (the Tigers in 2011 and 2012 Budapest Fives, Vamos in 2012 Krakow Trophy). Could they change that today?

The match was a tense and nervy affair as both teams strove for victory. It was advantage Vamos in the first half as Kryzstof Machoj scored to put his team into the ascendency. They kept the lead until half-time, 1-0.

In the second period Budapest Celtic Tigers hit back but Vamos were equal to the counterpunch. A Matt Watson-Broughton goal and an own goal put the Hungarian side right back in it but the cause was ultimately a losing one. Androj Lipczynski scored twice for Vamos and Machoj grabbed another to see them through to a 4-2 victory.

The result meant we now had 3 teams at the top on 6 points.

Group C was turning into a thriller – with three teams jammed at the top of the table, Red Army could make it even claustrophobic at the top by claiming 3 points themselves against Barely Athletic. From Barely Athletic's perspective this was a chance to get back into things – a win here and another in the final game and who knows where that could take them.

Red Army entered this game on the back of two defeats and having started so well they really needed to stop the rot and arrest their slide down the table. They set about their task superbly in this game and were ruthless in their execution of Barely Athletic. They produced 8 goals (4 in each half) and with the group so tight soared to the top of the table on goal difference.

Doug Cooke bagged 5 goals to take him onto 9 for the tournament and his challenge for the golden boot award was a strong one. Mark Bryan scored twice and Joao Neves netted to complete the scoring. All was rosy in the Red Army camp.
