JNJ High Wycombe A (Eng)

Group B began with Slavoj Consumer from the Czech Republic taking on JNJ Wuppertal of Germany.

These two teams had both participated at the inaugural 2012 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament here in Prague and at the 2013 edition in Budapest. They had both missed out on festivities in Bratislava 2014 and so returned to action for their third appearance here in Prague 2015.

The teams had met twice before. In 2012 they played the opening game in Group C and JNJ Wuppertal took the honours on that occasion, 1-0. At the 2013 tournament in Budapest, Slavoj Consumer got their revenge as they defeated their German opponents 4-2 in the Plate Semi-Finals. Who would take the upper hand in 2015?

It all began pretty well for Slavoj Consumer as they took the lead through Michal Dudon who scored in the corresponding fixture in 2013. Michal Dudon scored not once but twice in the first half and the Czech team held the advantage.

In the second half the teams scored a goal each with Basak Erdem scoring JNJ Wuppertal's first of the tournament. David Blaha, who scored twice in the 2013 game, scored his first of the day for Slavoj Consumer who started off with a fine 3-1 win.

Next up was De Puy Synthes 2 of England against Cilag Team 3 of Switzerland. The latter were making their debut eurofootballfives.com appearance and had already seen their 2nd team lose 4-1 to De Puy Synthes 1 in Group A. Could the Swiss 3 rd team get some revenge against the English 2nd team?

As we touched on in Group A De Puy Synthes made their debuts in the competition at last year's festivities in Bratislava competing as Gerri Hatricks FC and Tekkers Lovakia. The De Puy Synthes 2 side were largely the same as the Gerri Hatricks FC team who finished 6 th in Group B.

Gerri Hatricks FC were without a win last year but they started off in fine style here going 2-0 up inside the first half. Goals from James Dunstan and Roger Daniel helped them to a solid lead. After the break Momcilo Vucetic reduced the deficit to 2-1 but De Puy Synthes 2 had enough in the tank to hold on for their first win in our tournaments. A sign of better things to come in Prague?

The result meant a De Puy Synthes double over Cilag Team in the opening round of fixtures spanning Groups A and B.

Game 3 of Group B saw us have our first glimpse of the defending champions – High Wycombe A. They would start the defence of their title against JNJ Poland.

JNJ High Wycombe will be aiming to defend their title in Prague that they won in Bratislava 12 months ago and become the first team in the JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament to retain their title. They had come so close to glory in previous years. At the 2012 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament they finished 2nd in their group before going on to reach the Cup Final. In the Cup Final they went so close to claiming glory as they took the Final into extra time after a 2-2 draw. Unfortunately for them JNJ Croatia claimed the Golden Goal and they had to settle for Runners-Up medals. Fast forward to 2013 and they went one better by winning their group before going on to reach the Cup Final again. They were Runners-Up for a second time as they succumbed to JNJ Russia. They went all the way in Bratislava 2014 and it will be a strong team that prevents them winning the title in 2015.

High Wycombe A and JNJ Poland met in Round 2 of Group B at the 2014 Bratislava Fives and drew 1-1. 12 months on and the teams were still unable to be separated in direct competition as this one finished 0-0. It was a solid start for both.
