The 4th July 2015 saw the fourth annual JNJ Euro Soccer 5-a-side Tournament kick off in the Czech capital of Prague. It was the second time the tournament had been staged in Prague after visits to Budapest and Bratislava. We had 18 teams from 9 nations assembled to do battle, who would emerge victorious and claim the coveted title?

This was our joint-largest event with 18 teams and would prove to be a classic. Over the course of the day this would be the highest scoring of the four tournaments to date with 243 goals (beating the 206 of Prague 2012) and possess the highest goals per game ratio with 4.05 goals per game (beating the 3.77 of Bratislava 2014). Sit back, relax and let us talk you through all the action and drama of a great day of football.

The first two challengers to get us underway in Group A on Pitch A this year would be Cilag Team 2 (Swi) versus De Puy Synthes 1 (Eng).

Cilag Team 2 were one of three teams from Switzerland on debut in this year's tournament and the first to taste on pitch action. They did so against a De Puy Synthes 1 team who made an impressive debut at last year's tournament in Bratislava.

The English team showed the kind of form they displayed 12 months ago and established a 2-0 lead in the opening half. Goals from Andrew Preece and Tom Woolams set them on their way. In the second half Cilag Team 2 were to score their first of the day through Marco Neidhart but were unable to prevent De Puy Synthes 1 taking all 3 points as a Liam Robinson double ensured the final score was 4-1.

Game 2 of Group A was GTSC of Belgium versus Leeds Two of England.

GTSC appeared at the JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament the last time it was held in Prague back in 2012. On that occasion they had a slow start to the day as they slipped to defeat in their 3 opening games. After that they were much improved with a 1-1 draw against JNJ Pinewood and a 6-0 win over GBS Reds to finish the group phase in style. They then won their Plate Quarter-Final 3-1 against JNJ Wuppertal B. At the Semi-Final stage they were held 0-0 by Slavoj Consumer and missed out on the Plate Final due to a penalty shoot-out loss. It is great to see GTSC back in Prague.

GTSC looked glad to be back as they made a much better start than 3 years ago. Bram Vercauteren gave them a 1-0 lead going into the break. In the second half the Belgian team really got going and Leeds Two could do nothing to prevent the goals going in. Sander Vercauteren made it 2-0, Nicholas Peeters made it 3-0 and then Bram Vercauteren added a fourth and fifth to complete a fine personal hat-trick.

It was a tough start for Leeds Two but they had four games to go in Group A to ignite their tournament challenge.

The final two teams in Group A were JNJ Turkey and GBS Reds of the Czech Republic. JNJ Turkey were one of four teams on debut in today's line-up. They would take on the most experienced team in the tournament in terms of eurofotoballfives.com appearances.

GBS Reds were making it eurofootballfives.com appearance number 13 in Prague – not only in the JNJ Tournament but also competing in our public events. They have previously made six Prague appearances plus overseas tours to the 2010 Krakow Trophy, the 2011 Amsterdam Fives, the 2012 Berlin Fives, the Plate Champion of Champions tournament in Budapest 2013 and the JNJ Euro Soccer Tournaments in Budapest 2013 and Bratislava 2014. They have reached 4 Plate Semi-Finals, 2 Cup Quarter-Finals and have 2 Plate victories to their name at the 2010 Prague Trophy and 2012 Berlin Fives. They have entered two teams into the 2015 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament.

It proved to be a tight opening encounter and in the end there would just be one goal to separate the two teams. It came in the first half and it was Edip Efe who scored JNJ Turkey's first goal on the European stage. It was a first goal, a first win and first 3 points – a great start for the newcomers.
