Next
up was that very game – JNJ Turkey versus De
Puy Synthes 1. So, what was at stake:
De
Puy Synthes 1 win: This would seal the English
team the Group A victory, see GTSC qualify in
2nd and JNJ Turkey would need to wait and see
if 9 points would see them through as one of
the two best third placed teams.
A
draw: This would see GTSC win Group A on 12
points, De Puy Synthes 1 go through in second
with 11 points and JNJ Turkey would need to
wait and see if 10 points would see them through
as one of the two best third placed teams.
JNJ
Turkey win: This would see GTSC and JNJ Turkey
go through automatically. JNJ Turkey would win
Group A on goal difference. De Puy Synthes 1
would need to wait and see if 10 points would
see them through as one of the two best third
placed teams.
With
the match underway it was De Puy Synthes 1 who
forged ahead with Andrew Preece scoring his
fourth of the tournament. The English team were
in the ascendency and after the interval Andrew
Preece scored again to give his team some breathing
space. A superb solo effort from Scott Biggs
wrapped up the points as he danced through the
Turkey defence before applying the finish to
wrap up a 3-0 win.
Congratulations
to De Puy Synthes 1 who won the Group A title
with a 13 point haul which matched their efforts
from Bratislava 2014. You could say this was
a better effort as they had a +8 goal difference
then and today they had +17 scoring 20 goals
today compared to 10 one year ago. Despite defeat,
JNJ Turkey also had a good morning and, as things
turned out, they would also qualify for the
Cup.
