Round 3 started with Unbelievable Technippers taking on Drunk Perfect. Both teams were looking to gain their first victory of the day. Drunk Perfect had managed to get on the board with their first point and their first goals of the day in an impressive 2-2 draw with Los Swallacticos last time out.

Drunk Perfect is a multinational team residing in Barcelona that made its debut in the 2011 Barca Fives. The finished 3rd in their group behind England's El A Dees and Japan's Samurai Japan which earned them a place in the Cup as one of the highest finishing 3rd placed teams. Eventual champions Midshires FC ended their run in the Cup Quarter-Finals, 2-0. They returned in 2012 and also finished 3 rd in the group before going out to Barley FC 3-1 in the Plate Quarter-Finals. At the 2013 Barcelona Fives they started slowly in Group E before finishing with a 7-2 victory as they qualified for the Trophy. In the Quarter-Finals their form continued with a 6-0 win over ADP Royals and a 4-2 Semi-Final win over Rapid Bosco Navas. They drew the Trophy Final 1-1 with Deportivo Dooradoyle of Ireland but had to settle for Runners-Up medals with Dooradoyle winning 2-1 on penalties.

Their most recent tournament was at the 2015 Barcelona Fives. They finished 4th in Group A with 1 win, 1 draw and 2 defeats to qualify for the Plate. A 2-2 draw with Naranjitos in the Quarter-Finals prefaced a 3-2 shoot-out victory. They won their Semi-Final 1-0 over ABCDE FC to set up a Final against Hardly Athletic. They had to settle for Runners-Up medals again as the English team won 2-0.

They found Unbelievable Technippers a tough nut to crack here in 2016 as they were unable to penetrate the English team's defence. They were equally as solid defensively as their opponents and both teams would pick up a point to inch up the league table. It was a good draw for Unbelievable Technippers and hopefully a springboard for them to go on to better things.

Beercelona were our early leaders in Group D. Two teams had tried and failed to take points from them, two teams had tried and failed to score against them. At the other end they were prolific upfront with 8 goals in 2 games. Their next challengers were Shahs of Sunset.

Shahs of Sunset made an impressive debut at the 2012 Valencia Fives. They topped their group and qualified for the Cup competition where they lost out to Mestallaban (Ire) on penalties in the Quarter-Finals. In the 2013 Budapest Fives they topped their 6-team group again without conceding a goal to qualify for the Cup. They went to penalties in the Cup Quarter-Finals again but this time won through. Their adventure ended in the Semi-Finals when they lost to the eventual champions, Team Bear, 1-0. At the 2013 Barcelona Fives they finished joint top on 9 points in their group but ended up 3 rd on goal difference meaning they incredibly missed out on the Cup. A Plate QF win was followed by a SF defeat to end their day.

At the 2014 Bratislava Fives they finished joint-top of their group again with 12 points from a possible 15. They drew 2-2 in their Cup Quarter-Final with Spider Mans & Eagle before winning on penalties. In the Semi-Finals they also drew 2-2 with Skidmarks but this time went out on penalties. Their most recent appearance was at the 2015 Lisbon Tournament which saw them draw a particularly tough group and despite being unbeaten they finished fourth – 4 draws in 5 games slowed their progress. They qualified for the Plate competition where they secured solid 3-1 and 4-1 victories in the QF and SF to meet Frank Hirth B in the Final. They missed out on ultimate glory with a 2-0 defeat in the final.

Here at the 2016 Barcelona Fives they were dismissed in the same fashion as Athletico De Leave and Bolivar. Beercelona's impressive start to the tournament continued as Jason James second of the day put them ahead. Tony Bramley opened his personal account for 2-0 before Luke Delaney made it 4 goals in 3 games. Job done for Beercelona.

The next action in Group D was Los Swallacticos versus Athletico De Leave. The 2013 Barcelona Fives champions had enjoyed a solid enough start with 4 points from 6 but the form of Beercelona and Red Light Runners was such that Los Swallacticos really needed to win this one to keep pace at the top. Their opponents Athletico De Leave had struggled so far this morning and sat at the foot of the table.

Given Los Swallacticos's history in our tournaments you would make them strong favourites and they lived up to their billing. Michael McCourt set them on their way as they established a 1-0 lead. McCourt was one of two players in this year's squad who survived from that title winning team in 2013 (Barry O'Neill being the other).

The squad also contained two debutants – Foge Cunnigham and Conor Taylor. Both had been on the scoresheet already today and Conor Taylor was to add to his tally here as he made it 2-0. That was the final score and Los Swallacticos picked up the 3 points they needed. Athletico De Leave's search for points continued.

Bolivar (Spa) versus Red Light Runners (Ire) was the game that took us to the end of Round 3 in Group D. Red Light Runners so far had 2 wins out of 2 but they could not relax as Beercelona and Los Swallacticos were also rattling off the wins as it increasingly looked like Cup qualification from this group would be 2 teams from 3.

Bolivar had one win and one defeat to date. They had an uphill task if they wanted to make that two wins in three games. If it was an uphill task at the start of play they had a mountain to climb when Stephen Doherty put the Irish team 1-0 up. James O'Brien in the Red Light Runners goal was yet to concede today and so the odds were certainly against Bolivar. Those odds lengthened when Cory Gallagher doubled the lead to 2-0 and there was certainly no way back for Bolivar.

Red Light Runners maintained their 100% record and remained in second place in the group on goal difference behind Beercelona.
