Round 2 started with Shahs of Sunset versus Unbelievable Technippers. Both teams had suffered defeat in the opening round of fixtures and were looking to bounce back with a win.

Going back to their previous appearance at the Barcelona Fives (2013), the Shahs of Sunset had 4 wins and 3 defeats in the Catalan capital. Their squad of 6 featured 5 players who made up part of their 2013 squad so we didn't expect them to remain without a win for long. Unbelievable Technippers ran them to a very close contest though.

The game was extremely tight and there was to be just the one goal to separate the two teams at full-time. The goal was scored by Paolo Ferrari who earned all 3 points for his team by scoring the Shahs first goal of the tournament. At the other end there was a clean sheet for Samir Benyounes – he had the distinction of going through the whole group phase (5 games) at the 2013 Budapest Fives without conceding. This was his first clean sheet of today. Benyounes and his team would hope it would be the first of many.

Round 2 continued with the match on Pitch B which was Drunk Perfect versus Los Swallacticos.

Los Swallacticos made their eurofootballfives.com debut at the 2013 Barcelona Fives and what a debut it was! They finished joint top of their group (2nd on goal difference) to qualify for the Cup. They then secured 3-1 wins over Team Maverick in the QF and Elcombe Old Boys in the SF before seeing off Melee FC 1-0 in the Cup Final.

At the 2014 Barcelona Fives they again finished 2 nd in their group to qualify for the Cup as they looked to defend their title. A feisty 2-1 Quarter-Final victory over West One Three saw them meet Tinniedad & Tobacco in the Semi-Finals. They scored a last minute equalizer to take the game to penalties which they won, 3-2. In the Cup Final they met Monexy of Ukraine where they lead 2-1 and could have been a man up if the ref had produced a red card for a professional foul by the Ukraine goalkeeper. It was not to be though and Monexy hit back to claim the title 3-2. Can Los Swallacticos reclaim their trophy in 2016?

They had started off with a win in Round 1 and were on the victory trail again when Ruairi O'Neill put Los Swallacticos 1-0 up. Drunk Perfect turned the tables on their illustrious opponents as goals from Inacia Julien and Carlos Pacheco Alfonso turned the game on its head.

Conor Taylor ensured Los Swallacticos would avoid defeat by equalizing to make it 2-2. It was honours even at the full-time whistle.

Game 7 of 28 in Group D was to be Beercelona (Eng) versus Bolivar (Spa). Both of these teams came into the match on the back of victories so another win here would put them in a great position in the Group D table. Beercelona had announced themselves in style with a 5-0 win whilst Bolivar also had a victory to nil (2-0 over the Shahs of Sunset).

Bolivar played at the 2015 Barcelona Fives under the name of Equipo De Cristhian. They secured 1 victory, 1 draw but fell to 2 defeats in Group C as they finished 5 th . As a result, they qualified for the Trophy competition and embarked on a great run. A 4-1 Quarter-Final over Dynamo Fucdarest 1 was followed by a 3-0 win over FC Sharks and a 3-0 win over FC Atwood to collect the winner's trophy and medals.

A second win for Bolivar today would mark their best start to one of our tournaments but it was not to happen as Beercelona continued their emphatic start to the day. A 3-0 win meant they had scored a superb eight goals without reply.

Luke Delaney scored his third of the tournament to make it 1-0. Sari Itani scored his second in as many games before Richie Murphy did likewise.

To complete Round 2 we had Athletico De Leave versus Red Light Runners. Athletico De Leave had suffered a 5-0 defeat in their first game and so the last thing they needed was a game against a former champion and one that had already picked up a 3-0 win in Round 1.

Red Light Runners first eurofootballfives.com appearance was as the 2008 Krakow Trophy where they topped Group C with a 100% record and a goal difference of +10 from 3 games. A sensational 4-0 Quarter-Final win against the defending champions, Northern Monkeys, quickly established them as favourites. A 3-1 win over AFC Politico in the Semi-Finals preceded a 4-1 win over Complex in the Final. They became the first and still the only team to represent Scotland to win a eurofootballfives.com event. After various squad changes since 2008, the team now represents Ireland.

At the 2008 Barca Fives their search for a second tournament victory started off well. They breezed to victory in Group C with 4 wins from 4 scoring 26 goals and conceding just 2 in the process. In the Cup Quarter-Finals they defeated Hanson Vets 1-0 to set-up a Semi-Final versus Uxama which they won 2-1. They looked set for another title until Rapid Bosco Navas upset them 2-1 in the Final. Stephen Doherty (11) and Declan Doherty (9) were the tournament's top two goalscorers on the day.

They were looking imperious again as two Cory Gallagher goals were followed by two Stephen Doherty goals to complete a 4-0 win. They were 100% for the day so far.
